As a self taught drummer myself, a lot of this rings true..........but it can also apply to anyone who is not self taught and getting lessons.
Everyone's journey is different, so do whatever you have to do to find your own path.

TECHNIQUE BUCKET LIST #1 - TENSION EATS REBOUND!
Is your hand/your fulcrum too tight - especially when your stick hits a surface? The tighter you hold your stick, the less the stick will be working for you. That important source of energy we all rely on - which is REBOUND - will not take action for you and help you to realize your musical visions. No matter what you choose: It still should be a reflected decision and not just following some statement that somebody made without questioning it.
