Last week we held an event for secondary pupils who have been selected to take part in the Sportscotland Young Ambassadors programme.

Along with Active Schools teams from 25 other local authorities, we held our own local event and had 20 pupils from 9 Aberdeen secondary schools who came together to watch the live Young Ambassadors Conference. We then had an afternoon with our pupils, discussing practical ways they can get involved as leaders in their schools, addressing barriers they may face and looking at solutions for giving everyone a chance to get involved in sport and physical activity.

Stay, Play & Connect is our fun, inclusive, and welcoming space where children and young people with additional support needs can enjoy sport, socialize, and be active.

Sessions focus on:
✅ Playing at your own pace
✅ Social connection – for both participants and families
✅ Being a safe, supportive space
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Parents and carers are required to stay, and can join in the fun!

🏐A big thanks to Mr Thomas from St Machar Academy & Volleyball Aberdeen for leading this afternoon's volleyball leadership workshop for senior pupils.

Seniors from Aberdeen Grammar, Cults, Hazlehead and St Machar covered the basics of coaching volleyball to juniors through a selection of helpful drills and games.

We hope to see some of these seniors volunteering in their schools this year! 👍

Please see the flyer attached, and details below for the Chance to Shine Street Club in Aberdeen.

When: Every Thursday 4-5pm (starts 3rd September)
Where: St Machar Academy, St Machar Dr, Aberdeen AB24 3YZ
Who: For anyone aged 8 to 15 years

The Street Club is completely free of cost, and participants can register using the QR code on the flyer. All equipment will be provided during the session.

We are looking for any women who would be interested in mentoring young women in sport (aged 18-24) in a leadership, mental health & wellbeing programme.

SAMH (Scottish Action for Mental Health) are launching their 2026/27 Young Women in Sport Leadership Programme and are looking for women to become mentors for a 12-month programme starting in October.
