🎶 Exciting news for our Wee Music School families — the Aberdeen Music Festival is back!

The 101st edition of this brilliant local festival takes place 1–5 June 2026, and it's a wonderful opportunity for students to perform, gain confidence, and experience the magic of live music in a supportive, encouraging setting.

Categories include strings, brass, woodwind, piano, guitar, percussion, vocal, and more so there's something for every instrument we teach!

🎻 Say hello to Hannah De Bordes — our newest violin tutor!

We are absolutely thrilled to welcome Hannah to the Wee Music School family — and this one is particularly special for us. Hannah is a former pupil of our founder Aden, and it is a real joy to see her return to Aberdeen as the brilliant musician and educator she has become!

Based right here in the city, Hannah holds a Bachelor's degree in Violin Performance from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, and a Master's degree (with Distinction!) in Violin Performance from the Royal Northern College of Music. Classically trained to the highest level, what really sets Hannah apart is her love of exploring music in all its forms — from folk and bluegrass to jazz, rock, and improvisation.

As a performer, she's played with professional orchestras, taken to the stage at Celtic Connections, fronted her own ceilidh band Stooshie, toured with the Illegal Eagles, and — our personal favourite — performed solo Bach with a foot tambourine. 🥁

As an educator, Hannah has worked with the Benedetti Foundation as an Instrumental Ambassador and currently teaches upper strings with Big Noise Torry. She is deeply passionate about helping every student find genuine joy and confidence in their music making.

Hannah has availability Monday to Friday, 4–8pm, and welcomes students of all levels — from complete beginners to more advanced players. 🎶

Our talented young musicians in the Initial Strings, Junior Strings, and Youth Orchestra have been working hard to bring you a fantastic evening of music. Under the baton of conductors Aden Mazur and Laurie Rominger, enjoy a diverse programme ranging from Mozart’s Symphony No. 40 and Hensel’s Overture in C Major to exciting contemporary pieces like KPop Demon Hunters!
