🎃 Foveran Halloween Trail 2025! 🎃
Friday 31st October, 5pm – 7pm
Around Foveran Village
We’re delighted to once again be hosting our annual Foveran Halloween Trail – a highlight of the spooky season!
This event is only possible thanks to the wonderful generosity of our families, who have donated sweets for the evening. A huge thank you to everyone who has contributed — your support keeps this community event alive and full of fun!
An extra-special thank you also goes to Toni and Sam, two of our fantastic parents, who have kindly organised this year’s trail and taken care of all the sweets and activities. We’re so grateful for your time, creativity and effort – thank you both!
As always, the trail is open to the whole community, so please do feel free to share the details on local community pages.
Emails will go out to families with the trail clues and answer sheets, and we’ll have plenty of printed copies available to pick up from the school.
I’ll be in the Foveran School playground from 5–7pm, ready to hand out treats to anyone who cracks the code… or tells me a great Halloween joke! 👻
Looking forward to seeing lots of you there — costumes, torches, and big smiles encouraged!

Foveran Halloween trail 2024!
With huge thanks to our parent council and especially Lynn - we're running a halloween trail again. We really appreciate the donations of sweets from our families which make it possible.
As with previous years, it's open to the whole community (so feel free to share on other community pages)
Emails will go out to families with the clues and answer sheets and I'll have plenty of spares printed and ready at the school if you'd like to pick one up. I will be in the school playground (from 5-7pm) ready to reward anyone who has figured out the answer - or who just has a good joke for me!

Dear parents and Foveran community,
Our Foveran Parent Council are planning on holding a Halloween Trail again. As with previous years, we plan to have some kind of a quiz/task for the children and families to complete as they go around the village guisng/trick or treating and when done, they can go to the school where they will get some sweets as a reward from Mr Ferguson. This is open to the whole community.
If you are able, we would once again ask for families to donate sweets for the Halloween Trail. Ideally anything individually wrapped would be very much appreciated. If you are able to donate anything at all, we would ask that you drop it in past the school before the October Holiday so that volunteers can have plenty of time to organise and bag up the sweets.
It has been a big hit in recent years thanks to your kind donations – here’s hoping for nice weather!

Dear parents,
My apologies for the lack of notice but after many many requests from the children today, we're going to make tomorrow (Thursday 4th) a dress as you please day.
Children can wear whatever they want tomorrow for school. (so long as it's suitable for a normal school day including lunch and breaks) This is entirely optional, the normal uniform is absolutely fine. We are doing it today rather than Friday because we'd rather the children had their uniform for the end of term celebration.
Kind regards,
Jamie Ferguson

Congratulations to our Football team!
Today we had the pleasure of recognising some unsung heroes and volunteers with our Community Service Awards, for their significant contribution to the life of our local community.
And redistributing £8,000 in Community Grants to local groups who are serving the community with sport and well-being activities, respite care, school parent council activities, developing allotments, caring for our community facilities … a great variety of the work which sometimes quietly goes on in Ellon and surrounding villages which benefits so many.
All the money distributed was raised from our annual golf tournament (thank you for your support McDonald Golf Club, Ellon) and from your donations at events throughout the year.
We’ve hopefully tagged all involved correctly (msg if any need changed) - feel free to tell our followers a bit more about your group or project!
Great afternoon recognising the best of our community & thanks to Ellon Baptist Church for the venue & refreshments 👍

As you can see, we’re getting a tremendous response to our walk to school challenge, 1st place in Scotland today for schools up to 250 pupils, well done everyone and thanks to families for being so supportive!

Big walk and wheel
This week and next we will be taking part in the Big Walk and Wheel once again. For the two week period, everyone who would like to take part will be meeting at the village hall in the morning before school and we will leave the hall to walk back together at 08:50.
As with previous years we are hoping to inspire pupils to make active journeys to school and improve safety and air quality around our school. In school we will look at how these changes benefit our community and the wider world.
We hope your children will join us. They just have to turn up at the hall before 08:50 and they can accompany us to the school. They can walk or bring bikes and scooters. Parents are very welcome to join us for the walk but equally, they are welcome to drop their children off.

Dear Foveran,
Burns Bash Tomorrow
(The flyers and posters you see in the picture were going to be delivered around the village, but it’s been too windy!)
Despite the challenges presented by the ‘interesting’ weather we’ve been having, the children are still very excited to welcome everyone to the community café (Burns Bash) tomorrow and share their learning. We hope to be able to welcome you along if you can make it!
All the late starts last week and missing a day of school mean we have not been able to pull everything together that we had hoped, but there will still be a very fine display of poetry, music, and ceilidh dancing from all the classes. There will be hot drinks and shortbread for everyone, and the children have spent some of today baking so they can sell some (wonderful smelling) home baked treats on the day.
Timings
As a reminder, there are two cafes on the day.
· 11:00 – 12:15
· 13:30 – 14:45
All the children will be performing at both cafes, so you won’t miss them.
For parents
Children are welcome to wear something with a bit of tartan or something else Scottish if they choose. I’m afraid we will not have room for all their bags at the hall at the end of the day so after the afternoon café we will have to take them back to school for pickup at the usual time.
