YTHAN BRIDGE PARENT COUNCIL COLOUR RUN
HOW TO HELP – PARENT VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

The Parent Council plan to host a Colour Run in the park at Foveran on Saturday 30th May.
For this to be a successful event we really need the support of parents/guardians at the event.
We are looking for parents/guardians to come along armed with their super soakers and water guns, be prepared to throw chalks and powder paints and get involved in the fun!
We’ll be having a tea/coffee/bakes and snacks table on the day so any donations of homebakes – top hats and tray bakes etc – would be greatly appreciated.
HOW TO TAKE PART IN THE RUN
If your child would like to take part in the Colour Run, please fill in the Participation form and waiver and return by Friday 15th May 2026.
Entry is £5 per child and this can be paid into the Parent Council bank account (details below).
All children will receive a participation medal at the end of the event.
HOW TO RAISE MONEY FOR THE PARENT COUNCIL
To help us raise as much money as possible for the Parent Council, which helps us support the school with trips, end of term gifts etc, there is a Sponsor Form attached.
Please return your completed Sponsor Form to the Parent Council on the day of the run, along with all monies collected – where possible, please transfer money to the Parent Council bank account.

11/01/2026

All children who reach their fifth birthday by 28th February 2027 are invited to register for Primary 1 for admission in August 2026.

Registration period for 2026/27 term: 12th to 16th January 2026.

The application form will be available during the registration period.

Parents/Carers of those children due to commence attendance at school in August 2026 should now register their children for the appropriate local primary school.

To register for a primary school place, for a school within your catchment area, please complete the online application which can be found at:
https://www.aberdeenshire.gov.uk/applyForSchoolPlace.

It is usual practice for children to attend their local catchment primary school, however, you have the right to apply to place your child in a school other than your local school. Please complete an out of zone placing request. (You should still register your child in a school in the area you live in until you know the outcome of your application) Out of Zone Request form can be found at: https://www.aberdeenshire.gov.uk/schools/school-info/admissions/out-of-zone-school/

Please bring the below with you when your child starts school:

the child’s birth certificate as this is required as evidence of their date of birth and;
evidence of the parent/carer’s home address (for example a recent utility bill or recent bank statement).

All schools in Aberdeenshire have the same start date, in the middle of August each year. You will be informed of this year's start date at the time of registration at school.

Dear parents/carers,
Once again, Aberdeenshire Council have taken the decision to close all school settings across the shire tomorrow, Wednesday the 7th of January due to the ongoing conditions and weather warnings.
As with today, there will be more activities for the children on their Google classroom pages tomorrow.
I hope to be able to let you know about the situation for Thursday by 4pm tomorrow afternoon.

❄️All schools and council-run nurseries will again be CLOSED tomorrow (Wednesday).❄️

The decision has been taken based on a range of factors impacting on our schools’ ability to open safely.

We will continue to assess the ongoing situation and make every effort to reopen schools as soon as it is safe to do so but given the ongoing weather conditions and forecast this may not be possible before the end of this week.

Aberdeenshire Council will continue to monitor Met Office updates and work in liaison with our teams and partner services to inform further decision-making for Thursday and Friday and communicate these decisions as early as possible.

👉The next update will be provided on this tomorrow.

Ythan Bridge School will be closed again on Tuesday the 6th of January - see linked story.

Ythan Bridge School will be closed again on Tuesday the 6th of January - see linked story.

❄All schools and council-run nurseries will again be CLOSED tomorrow (Tuesday).❄

The decision has been taken based on a range of factors impacting on our schools’ ability to open safely.

Aberdeenshire Council will continue to monitor Met Office updates and work in liaison with our teams and partner services to inform further decision-making for Wednesday and beyond.

👉An update will be provided on this tomorrow.

We’ve had more than 200 personnel working across the roads network today and we continue to be supported by more than 100 contractor and farmer ploughs who have been assisting in snow clearing operations.

Once again all our primary routes will be treated from 6pm tonight and again tomorrow from 5.30am, with footpath and secondary routes getting treatment throughout tomorrow from 7am as resources and conditions dictate.

There will be more wintry showers this evening and overnight and road surface temperatures will be well below zero with the risk of ice and hoar frost.

There’s a Met Office yellow warning from midnight tonight throughout Tuesday with snow and ice likely to bring further disruption.

What to expect
• Possible travel delays on roads stranding some vehicles and passengers
• Possible delays or cancellations to rail and air travel
• Some rural communities could become cut off
• Untreated pavements and cycle paths might be impassable
• Power cuts may occur and other services, such as mobile phone coverage, may be affected

⚠ If you can, check on neighbours – especially those who are elderly, vulnerable or living alone.

❄ALL schools and Aberdeenshire Council-run nurseries across will be CLOSED tomorrow (Monday) due to the weather. ❄

The decision comes following a further Amber weather warning for snow across north and northeast Scotland. The Amber warning runs from 6pm this evening through to 10am tomorrow.

In addition, the Yellow warning for snow and ice remains through to the end of Tuesday.

Over the next 24 hours, accumulations of 2-5cm of snow are expected widely, with closer to 10cm for roads in the north.

👉Aberdeenshire Council’s education team will be reassessing the situation tomorrow (Monday) and will provide further updates then.

👉Gritting crews will be out tonight (Sunday) from 6pm and tomorrow (Monday) from 5.30am on primary routes with secondary routes and pavements being treated from 7am. Over the last few days, more than 100 contractor and farmer ploughs have been assisting in snow clearing operations.

⚠ If you can, check on neighbours – especially those who are elderly, vulnerable or living alone.

🎃 Foveran Halloween Trail 2025! 🎃
Friday 31st October, 5pm – 7pm
Around Foveran Village

We’re delighted to once again be hosting our annual Foveran Halloween Trail – a highlight of the spooky season!
This event is only possible thanks to the wonderful generosity of our families, who have donated sweets for the evening. A huge thank you to everyone who has contributed — your support keeps this community event alive and full of fun!
An extra-special thank you also goes to Toni and Sam, two of our fantastic parents, who have kindly organised this year’s trail and taken care of all the sweets and activities. We’re so grateful for your time, creativity and effort – thank you both!
As always, the trail is open to the whole community, so please do feel free to share the details on local community pages.
Emails will go out to families with the trail clues and answer sheets, and we’ll have plenty of printed copies available to pick up from the school.
I’ll be in the Foveran School playground from 5–7pm, ready to hand out treats to anyone who cracks the code… or tells me a great Halloween joke! 👻
Looking forward to seeing lots of you there — costumes, torches, and big smiles encouraged!
