The DJ Academy

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the closure of The DJ Academy in Aberdeen. Due to financial challenges that have made it unsustainable for us to continue operating, we’ve made the decision to shut down the academy and will no longer be offering DJ and music production lessons.

In what started out as a lockdown project, to teaching over 450 students and hosting events all across the north-east, we have cherished every moment over the past four years, sharing our knoweldge and passion for DJing with you all. We are incredibly proud of the success our students have gone on to have. Your support has been the foundation of our success, and for that, we are deeply grateful.

For anyone with outstanding vouchers, we kindly ask you to get in touch with us as soon as possible so we can arrange for their use before our closure.

What a year 2023 was for us. Teaching endlessly, our students going on to play gigs and festivals around the uk, have their own radio shows, release their own music independently and to labels. As well as launching our workshops within schools and within the community.

We would like to all say a massive thank you to each and every one of you who had supported us by liking a post, buying a lesson, treating someone to one of our gift vouchers (which are still on sale)

Ronnie Pacitti - Director / Music Production / Music Engineering


Ronnie is no stranger to the music industry grown up with his dad DJing it was only a matter of time before he was to get into it.

Ronnie has worked with some huge artists such as - KC Lights, Cassö, Van Damn, Amy Elle, Joel Corry & Christian Rogers to name a few.

Bringing his knowledge of music production his Production Lessons & Engineering sessions are truly excellent.

Releasing on labels such as Ministry Of Sound, Armada, Polydor, Atlantic & Of Unsound Mind. He has also had Radio 1 support from Sarah Story, Danny Howard, Jack Saunders & Jaguar

We asked Ronnie what his favourite thing about teaching Music Production / Music Engineering sessions were and he said “I love to see the people’s progress and help them hit their target to get singed to labels”

James Campbell - Director / Music Engineering

Starting The DJ Academy up in 2020 (formally known Aberdeen DJ Academy) with Ronnie Pacitti, teaching DJing & music production he was very excited what lay ahead for The DJ Academy’s future.

If James isn’t releasing on top record labels like Anjunadeep, Armada, Stress & Atlantic to hear a few, you can hear him regularly on BBC Radio 1 & KISS FM.

James is also a resident on the world renowned Virgin Voyages as he travels round the world playing a wide range of music having also played some of the worlds best clubs such as Hi Ibiza, BCM, Amnesia, SWG3, Unit 51 to name a few.

We asked James what his favourite thing about The DJ Academy was and he said “My favourite thing about the academy is seeing students go from having no experience to playing gigs around Scotland in less than a year.”

Dylan McPhee - Head Honcho / DJ Tutor


Dylan has been with the company for 2 years after been taken on by founders James Campbell & Ronnie Pacitti. Teaching over 200 students for them to go on and play festivals, nightclubs, bars & even launch their own events.

Dylan is no stranger to playing gigs himself, supporting artists such as Solardo, Oliver Heldens, Hannah Wants, Meduza to name a few. As well as holding down residencies across Scotlands most prestigious venues.

We asked Dylan what his favourite thing about The DJ Academy was and he said “The one thing I love the most about The DJ Academy is no matter what age or experience everyone is in it for the same thing, it’s fun and everybody loves music. I have 3 rules when coming in for a lesson, as long as you learn something new, have fun & leave with a smile on your face, then I’m happy’

We are excited to announce after three incredible years operating as Aberdeen DJ Academy, we are now rebranding to
The DJ Academy.

Since 2020, we’ve welcomed over 450 students and taught almost 2000 lessons & watched the academy grow into something truly special. Our students have gone on to play at festivals, clubs, bars, host their own radio shows and release music on some of the industry’s most renowned record labels. We just want to say thank you to everyone who has supported us and trusted us throughout this journey.

We are delighted to continue offering a variety of services including DJ and music production lessons as well as music engineering. Looking ahead, we are excited to bring our workshops into schools, expand into other locations and host events. It felt like the right time to rebrand to The DJ Academy as we celebrate our 3rd birthday.
