Gardening Club Fun! 🌼🌱

Today at Gardening Club, our Moonbeams had lots of fun getting their hands dirty! We planted some seeds and plants together and then carefully added labels so we could remember what they are called.

Once everything was labelled, we took our plants into the garden. We talked about what plants need to grow big and strong, including sunshine and water. The children enjoyed looking at their plants and chatting about what they might look like as they grow.

We are excited to care for our plants and watch them grow over the next few weeks! 🌱🌼✨

The Moonbeams children have been showing a keen interest in vehicles and building tracks for them to travel along. To extend this further, we worked together to create tracks on our chalkboard! Exploring different directions, turns and pathways.

Using our fine motor skills, we carefully followed the tracks with our vehicles, developing hand control and coordination while engaging in meaningful play. It was wonderful to see the chikdren sharing their ideas, problem solving and using their imagination as they explored where their vehicles go next.

✨️ Loose parts play and endless possibilities!

What fun can be had with loose parts! Across the week Moonbeams have created roaring dinosaurs, speedy cars and even boats taking us on exciting holiday adventures!

Loose parts play encourages children to explore, create, and think outside the box. With no limits on how materials can be used, imaginations flourish, problem solving skills develop and children gain confidence in their own ideas. πŸ’‘

Every loose part holds the potential for a new story, a new adventure and a new discovery! ☁️ ✨️

The Moonbeams took a trip to the local shop to collect the ingredients needed to make our very own strawberry muffins!

Before setting off, we had a group discussion about what the Moonbeams would like to bake and talked about the different ingredients we would need. During our visit to the shop, the children demonstrated excellent teamwork as they worked together to find and collect all the ingredients.

In the afternoon, the Moonbeams carefully measured, mixed, and scooped the ingredients to make their delicious strawberry muffins. The children had lots of fun baking and showed great concentration throughout the activity. πŸ₯£

We enjoyed tasting our muffins at snack time and were excited to take some home to share with our families. 🀩

We are so grateful to one of our lovely parents and to for their kind donation of a planter, along with soil, seeds and activity sheets for our nursery.

This generous gift has sparked lots of curiosity and conversation in our Shining Stars room! All afternoon the children have been busy discussing what we could plant, how long things might take to grow, and whether we should grow vegetables or flowers. πŸ₯” 🌼 πŸ₯•

We can't wait to begin our planting journey together - thank you again for supporting our little learners.

Following the children’s growing interest in planting, digging, and exploring nature, we enjoyed a wonderful little visit to Cove Bay Plants🌱🌼 The children loved looking at the bright flowers, touching the different plants, and exploring all the lovely smells and colours around them πŸŒΈπŸ‘ƒ

We talked about how plants need water, sunshine, and care to help them grow big and strong. The children enjoyed pointing at flowers, watching insects, and helping to carry some of the plants 🐝πŸͺ΄

A very kind lady at the garden centre generously donated some beautiful plants for us to take back to nursery. The children are excited to help water them, watch them grow, and explore them in our garden over the next few weeks πŸŒ»πŸ’›

🌞 A trip to the park! 🌳

Our Shining Stars headed out to enjoy the beautiful weather, and what a wonderful learning adventure it was!

Outings like these are about so much more than just having fun. The children practised how to keep themselves safe outside of nursery, learning about boundaries at the park, and remember the importance of always keeping a teacher in sight.

There were lots of opportunities for turn taking and patience too, after all, we can't all fit on the slide at once! The children showed fantastic teamwork by helping to push one another on the swings, encouraging their friends, and communicating so well together throughout.

We also explored sharing, listening skills, confidence-building, problem solving, and developing friendships through play.

And of course, we all had lots of fun! 🌈

Pop, pop! 🫧

Today the Shining Stars got hands on with bubbles in our tuff tray investigation. Using hoops, pipe cleaners and lots of different tools, the children experimented with how to make bubbles big, small, long and floaty!

We introduced rich language throughout thr activity such as blow, pop, stretch, float, swirl and sparkle, encouraging children to describe what they could see and feel whilst developing their communication skills, curiositiy and fine motor control. 🫧 ✨️

Moonbeams have been busy creating the very own obstacle courses, testing balance, coordination and teamwork along the way!

We also had an important safety discussion with our special friend SIMOA the elephant. 🐘
The children thought carefully about how to stay safe when building and using equipment, and SIMOA even had a turn on the course to check everything was safe before we began!

A mix of fun, learning and safety awareness! 🀩
