Dr Eunchai Kang's research group utilises cutting-edge technologies such as neural stem cell cultures, and 3D-brain organoids combined with pharmacological and genetic editing to understand how the brain develops during normal and pathological conditions. Dr Kang will also give some tips on how to become a neuroscience researcher and there will be opportunities to ask questions as well!

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝗪𝗲𝗱𝗻𝗲𝘀𝗱𝗮𝘆, 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝟴𝘁𝗵 𝗼𝗳 𝗙𝗲𝗯𝗿𝘂𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗮𝘁 𝟰𝗽𝗺 𝗶𝗻 𝗠𝗮𝗰𝗥𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘁 𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗺 𝗠𝗥𝟮𝟱𝟬.

The paper we have chosen for this session focuses on cellular intelligence, specifically on how neurons behave in a simulated game world, mimicking the arcade game 'Pong'. You don't need to read the paper beforehand as our committee members will prepare a presentation summarising the main findings of the article

In the second half of the meeting, we will be having a discussion on the paper itself and more broadly on the mechanisms of learning and the importance of closed-loop feedback systems in synthetic biological intelligence.
This is a very thought-provoking topic and a great opportunity to improve your critical appraisal skills and network with other neuroscience enthusiasts.
