Learning to lead climb on Saturday 🧗‍♀️🧗‍♀️

Lauren and Giada learned all about lead belaying, lead climbing, clipping, rethreading anchors, cleaning routes, rope management, communication.... It's the start of a journey with much more to practise and learn on the way.

Well done to both on completing thier very first lead climbs 👏

A great achievement for both of them.

taking thier indoor bouldering skills onto real rock earlier this month.

There is a lot that makes outdoor bouldering different. Sharp rock, small holds and even smaller foot holds and much harder route reading!

The bouldering at Portlethen provides a great introduction to outdoor bouldering!

Rain didn’t stop play today. Conditions were tough, holds were wet, and the weather couldn’t make up its mind, but Murray and Bob had a great time and got a full day of climbing it.

More winter skills with this weekend.

Two very contrasting days as the first thaw in weeks took hold on Sunday. Hard frozen snow pack and icy slopes giving way to soft mush underfoot. A differnet type of day, but still winter.

Winter skills with this weekend.
Using crampons - ice axe - how to use your boots efficiently - avalanche avoidance - navigation - dealing with the wind.

Very busy on the hills around glenshee this weekend and glenshee ski centre ran out of car parking space!

Lots of setting has been done at over the last 2 days for the fun comp. In all 16 news top rope and auto belay lines. I only added a couple on feature wall.

I also changed the top of the old blue comp line on the tower, so it has a reasonable finish now.
