📚📖 Exploring our local library! 📖📚

Oak Room had such a wonderful morning exploring our local library in Abertillery! 🌟

Our little learners had the opportunity to explore the books, discover new stories and enjoy the exciting surroundings of a place that is right at the heart of our local community. 💕📚

Visits like this are a lovely way for our preschoolers to build connections with their local community, become familiar with the places around them and develop a love of books and learning along the way. 🏘️❤️

It was fantastic to see so much curiosity, excitement and enthusiasm as they explored! 👏✨

🧱✨Exploring Lego Education✨🧱

LEGO Education for ages 3–6 is more than just building — it’s an opportunity for children to explore, experiment and develop essential skills through hands-on play.

🔧 Using LEGO screwdrivers helps children strengthen fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination and hand strength, while also encouraging focus, problem-solving and independence.

As little hands twist, turn and build, they’re developing the foundations they need for everyday tasks, writing and future learning — all while having fun! 💛

Today the children were given the opportunity to use a digital camera to take photographs throughout their day 📸

They enjoyed exploring their surroundings from their own perspective, choosing what caught their attention and capturing special moments.

Here are some of the wonderful photographs the children took!

This experience supported the children’s sense of belonging, as they were encouraged to share what is important to them. By giving the children ownership of the camera, they were able to express themselves, make choices and see that their ideas and interests are valued. 📷❤️

As part of the Welsh Government's expansion of the Flying Start programme across Wales, all children aged two on or before 31 August 2026 in Blaenau Gwent will be entitled to 12 and a half hours of fully funded childcare from September 2026.

Parents will be receiving letters with details of how to apply for a childcare place from 10th August 2026. Over 100 eligible families should receive letters soon.
