Spread the love this half term by sharing our post. The more hearts to spot, the more fun to be had on our socially distanced walks
❤️🧡💛💚💙💜

The Friends of Tanners Wood are hoping to spread a little love around Abbots Langley Village this February half term - why not join in with the fun!

Draw, paint or print off a picture of a colourful heart and display it in a window for passers by to see from Valentines Day (Sunday 14th February) and throughout half term week.

We're hoping our 'Half Term Heart Hunt' provides a fun addition to our daily exercise this half term - and spreads a little love at the same time!

[12/06/20]   How are FOTW spreading some festive cheer this December?

- Pop Up Santa Competition - have you spotted a Santa popping up in a garden or window near you? Pop on over to our page for Tanners Wood Parents (the Friends of Tanners Wood School PTA) to vote for your favourites
- Christmas Hamper raffle - purchase raffle tickets on ParentMail by Wednesday 9th December
- Christmas crackers purchased for Christmas lunches at school
- Christmas decorations purchased for every class
- We’ve funded for the whole school to have access to an online Pantomime (Robin Hood) in the absence of an outing to the theatre this year
- Christmas goodie bags to be delivered to every child in school the last week of term (with a drink, some snacks and a small gift). This replaces donations from home for class Christmas parties
- Santa videos have been recorded personalised to every class. These will be played to children during the last week of term
- Orders for Christmas Tea Towels with children’s self portraits will be delivered to classes before the end of term

Thank you to the team of parent volunteers that have helped make each of these projects happen 👏 👏 👏

[12/02/20]   Please do not post any ‘Pop Up Santa’ entries on here. Please visit our ‘closed’ Facebook group for Tanners Wood Parents, the Friends of Tanners Wood School PTA page. Parents please support the competition by liking your favourite Santa displays - you can like as many, as you like!

TANNERS WOOD ARE NO LONGER ACCEPTING CRISP PACKET DONATIONS FOR THE RECYCLING SCHEME

Tanners Wood School signed up to the Terracycle Crisp Packet Recycling Scheme last year. However, since then the minimum weight of crisp packets the scheme accepts for charity donations has changed. Considering we are required to donate 500 kilos to receive £5, we have withdrawn from the scheme. If you would like to donate crisp packets to save them going into landfill, please click on the link below to find your nearest drop off location

Thank you to Laura Jeffs, who has recently stepped down as Chair of Friends of Tanners Wood, due to a recent move to Milton Keynes. We all wish Laura and her family every happiness in their new home and at their new school. Laura was a very dedicated leader and she will be greatly missed by us all.

Once the new term has started and children and parents have settled into the new school routine, we will be asking any parents to come forward if they are interested in the role of chair. We usually would be hosting a social evening to welcome new nursery and reception parents, but due to the current restrictions on social gatherings, this won't be possible. Adjusting to the 'new normal' in the coming months, will have a big impact on PTA funding and our hosting of events and meetings. There are bound to be opportunities for the committee to host virtual meetings and for fundraising ideas that don't rely on getting large groups of parents or children together. If you think you may be able to support Friends of Tanners Wood navigating the year ahead, we would love to hear from you.

If you won a prize and didn’t get to claim it at the Fete - don’t worry, we have contact numbers for all unclaimed prizes and will contact winners next week
