A lovely relaxed afternoon, I was so pleased the children enjoyed exploring the new sensory bottles - a great way to enhance communication and language and to have the opportunity to explore smaller objects.

The children enjoyed posting the curtain rings into the box and hanging the rings onto the mug tree, great hand to eye co-ordination and one of the children gave themselves a clap well done 🤩🥰

We also experimented to see which cars and vehicles would go down the ramps best - always a fun activity!

Another fantastic tuff tray from the volunteers at playgroup! The children loved exploring the bee themed tuff tray 🐝 Tuff trays are a great way for so many areas of learning, this week I noticed that it really encouraged communication and language as we sang the nursery rhyme “Here is the beehive, where are the bees” and talked about the honeycomb, honey, pollen, hexagons and hives, which introduced lots of new vocabulary for the children.

We noticed lots of rabbit droppings on our outing today and discussed how shy wild rabbits are and that the hide in their homes under the ground.

We then noticed lots of abandoned holes and wondered if the ground was too hard for the rabbits to burrow down into.

One hole seemed to be quite deep in the grass so we then used a stick to measure how deep it was.

Once back home we looked though the Peep Inside Animal Homes book and found it had a lovely picture of the rabbits in their warren!

We’ve spotted another caterpillar today whilst outdoors and looked it up to find it will turn into a brown tail moth! The children have enjoyed practising their fine motor skills posting the dried pasta into the Very Hungry Caterpillars mouth to feed him. One of the children I noticed was colour sorting and adding all the yellow pieces first and then all the green pieces. We talked about the caterpillar being full up/empty and held it to see if it felt heavy or light.
