The first paper of Maxime COUTANT, an alumni of the PaleoMaster (Lille), has just been released today in GEOBIOLOGY (Coutant et al., 2022. Distinguishing cellular from abiotic spheroidal microstructures in the ca. 3.4 Ga Strelley Pool Formation. https://doi.org/10.1111/gbi.12506)
Maxime is now enrolled as a fully funded, co-supervised PhD student in Liège University and Lille University.

Veronica CARLSSON, 2019 graduate of the double degree Master programme in Paleobiology between the Universities of Lille and Uppsala, has recently obtained a prestigious PEARL funding (http://www.isite-ulne.fr/index.php/en/programme-for-early-stage-researchers-in-lille-pearl-2/) to undertake a PhD at the University of Lille entitled “Artificial intelligence in radiolarian fossil identification: taxonomic, biostratigraphic and evolutionary implications” (supervisors T. The University of Lille, and more specifically the Faculty of Science and Technology, has received European funding from the EACEA for an Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree called PANGEA (PAleoNtology, GEoheritage & Applications).

The PANGEA programme is the first and unique Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree in Palaeontology. The educational aim of this programme is to qualify students to a level of excellence in one of the three specialised fields of Earth Sciences: Palaeobiology, Geoconservation and Applied Palaeontology. Our consortium is composed of 4 European institutions: the University of Lille in France, Uppsala University in Sweden, The University of Minho in Portugal and the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens in Greece.

This 2-year study programme spread over the four European universities of our consortium and leading to 120 credit Master’s diplomas was designed to meet the renewed international demand for qualified graduates with dedicated training and experience in fundamental and applied palaeontology.

The first call for applications is now open until February, 29th! Students with an Earth Sciences background from all over the world can apply. The selected scholarship holders will receive a full financial support including participation costs, travel costs and a monthly allowance.
