NEW - C1 Objective Course
Are you already comfortable in French… but still not quite fluent?
You can have a conversation. You can deal with work, admin, appointments and everyday life. You can understand most of what people say. You might even be surprised by how much French you’ve accumulated over the years.
But sometimes… you still don’t quite say what you mean.
You search for the right word. You translate something in your head. You use the same expressions again and again. You understand the words, but not always the subtext. You’re not sure whether something sounds natural, too formal, too direct — or just… a bit odd.

And then there are those niggly little grammar mistakes that you’ve been making for years.

LT Objective C1 is for B2-level French speakers who want to move beyond “I can manage” towards genuinely confident, flexible French.

This isn’t about learning more and more vocabulary for the sake of it.
It’s about using the French you already have more naturally — and adding the nuance, precision and cultural understanding that make a real difference.
French citizenship and integration are part of the wider picture too.
The official language requirement for citizenship is currently B2, but reaching B2 and actually feeling comfortable participating fully in French society are two different things.

The aim isn't to “finish C1” as quickly as possible. It’s to spend time using French, noticing the gaps, fixing them, practising again — and gradually making better French feel automatic.

And if you miss a class? We know life happens. We’ll record sessions when someone is absent, and we’ll be working with a coursebook and supporting materials, so there are ways to catch up rather than simply falling behind.

Avancée was created to help people learn French — and we love helping our learners get to the point where French becomes less of a subject they study and more of a language they live in.
If you’re not sure whether this course is right for you, get in touch. We’re happy to talk it through.

Are you stuck at A2* or B1** level?
It takes time, repetition and regularity to get from one level to the next.

We’re setting up 2 new courses
Starting mid-Sep 2026
LT Objective B1 & LT Objective B2

Why?
We’re a human school and we understand our students want to learn, get better, become fluent. But there’s work, there’s family, there’s life.

So, here’s the offer: Commit to the school year | 1 lesson = 90min a week on Thursday mornings | Starting 17th September

Afraid you’ll miss a few sessions?
We’ve considered that and are thinking of ways to record the classes when someone is missing. We’ll also be working with a coursebook so there’ll be options to catch up.

Students have already signed up and we’re close to having enough participants to run both courses, but we need you to join and/or share the info around you!

We truly believe this is a great programme and that it will help our Learners-of-French community in the Valley.

Avancée was created to help with learning French. We love what we do and we do it well, let us show you!

*A2: You know quite a lot, but you can’t put it together smoothly or quickly enough to deal with everyday situations.
**B1: You can deal with everyday situations without too much stress, but you know you often use a lot of the same expressions and you’d like to be more precise. Maybe French citizenship is also on your mind…
