Bricking it this evening. I have a rdv at the prefecture tomorrow for the renewal of my Titre de sejour. Should have had 10 years to begin with but they made a mistake, now I have to change my 5 years to 10 ... they CAN refuse a renewal for a 5 year card (not a 10) ... My usual anxiety is peaking! What if there's a problem? My card ran out 2 days ago. I know the brexit cards are a bit different, but still. 😤🤞🤞🤞

A very disappointing day... I expected heavy traffic to go to Saint Laurent du Pont, but it was gridlocked around Bourg d'Oisans, so I just went round the roundabout and came home. All the prep for one of the very best american car meets of the season, gutted, especially after the 2 I missed earlier due to the tyre saga. 😭I've been to L'Ouest americaine for the last 4 or 5 years, it's a lovely drive, not too far, and a pretty little town with lots going on.

Thank you Tour de France. Physio rdv cancelled thursday for the same reason - that's 4 days of HUGE inconvenience for residents

Last weekend we had the annual Vintage Motor Show in Les Deux Alpes. Apparently there were 120 cars present on Saturday, which was visibly fewer than previous years. :( As per normal, lots of Porches and Alpines, but not so many yanks 😢
I've finally downloaded my photos, so here they are. I'll edit tomorrow.
There were some very odd cars including th Donkervoort, which I've never seen before. They made an effort to put the cars into categories, which was nice for Vicky's Audio TT RS which was in a little group of them, but with one interloper!!! Hers is the blue one next to the fence.
Yuki got a good spot next to a scruffy Chevvy van which lives in resort, and a Corvette which had a very nice, subtle flip flop paint.
Vicky, Melvin and I had a nice time, it wasn['t too unbearably hot either.

I finally managed to get to my first meet today, and with only a small back road diversion en route!!
La guingette at Champagneux put on a fabulous day in spite of the apallingly hot weather. There were some truly beautiful cars there, some nice stalls and a twosome of guitar players and singers with mellow country/folk music while some people actually managed to eat a hot meal :O How???
Here are the pix - I've captioned them. Highlight ... the Ford - not what one expects to see anywhere really!
On the way home I only took one wrong way, but that took me to a lake and beach so a paddle to cool my tootsies was done.... then going back the way I came the whole lot of that line which included the GT4 came past me. They must have been together.
I met a very nice man and his wife too.

Not only that but got stuck behind and extraordianary machine which was the size of a combine, tracks in front, wheels behind, and towing some sort of giant screw thing - never seen anything like it before :O + nice police let me through to get home from Bourg in spite of the road supposedly being closed. Merci messieurs.

Having a bit of a 'mare with tyres ... On sunday I went to pump up my rear tyres en route to an american car meet - couldn't undo the little cap things :O I've never had this before. Got a kind bloke to try, he couldn't either, so had to abandon the day out as one tyre was much too low to risk the autoroute.
Asked the garage monday, and they couldn't remove either, so suggested that as I needed new tyres anyway I could get them and they would just pull the air fill thingies out when they changed tyres..
I've ordered tyres from a place that has delivered very promptly in the past, and getting nowhere... no delivery, supposed to take car 08.00 tomorrow :( thinking about spare wheel (which I can't personally get out), but the other back tyre is looking very low too... Should go to another Yank meet on sunday, but is it looking likely?? Not really!
Anyone else ever had these little caps stuck on? I have checked pressure since the caps were new ...

Yesterday I went skiing with Vicky. Great snow, hot and sunny. VERY hard at the top which surprised me (skiing on the Stormriders for the first time in I don't know when), did eventually work out how to get the edges to work though!! 🤣
Vicky skied brilliantly considering she's hardly skied this winter, she used the Aztec Pros which were probably a little better on the hard stuff. Lovely snow en route for 2600m though, that squishy spring snow almost to the 3S. She went up again today on her own and skied 3200 to 2600 alone for the first time - twice. Chapeau Vicky!!

I went skiing today!! Bad start as Diable was closed which I found AFTER I'd walked up the hill to it! Back down to wait for a bus to the centre and thence up the Jandri 3S to 2600m.

From there I skied down Grand Nord (is it still called that?) on to the third section of Bellecombe 2, down there and on to the Bellecombe lift. Up that, down all 3 sections of the Bellecombe 2, fabulous spring snow throughout. then back up again to Bellecombe 3 (poor video - sorry, couldn't actually see the screen), down the link and then to Vicky's Bete Noir which was also lovely. At the bottom of the Y I found an old man standing there for a long time. He told me he was fine, but hadn't skied for 2 years due to an accident, and couldn't remember how. He had all the gear - SL skis, SL protection helmet, lots of stuff on his jacket. I thought he was following me, but he didn't ... so my neighbour Nereya was on the lift and I told here, she kept an eye out for him. Hope he got off the mountain safely.

Back up Jandri 3S to the glacier, where I made the mistake of having a break, and my muscles siezed up, so skiing back downt the Breche wasn't great. Took the secret piste of Breche and the gully back down to 2600m. By then it was 2pm and the snow was going off.

Knackered!
