Exactly 2 years ago today, we pulled off this amazing project! 🎈☀️

We built a solar balloon from scratch, cutting the plastic and inflating it with a small fan. This awesome idea came from Hugo, one of our teachers who has a background in Aeronautical Engineering ✈️👨‍🏫

But we didn't just let the balloon float away blindly. Under it, we attached a GPS tracker and instruments to measure temperature, pressure and humidity. Because safety comes first, we actually had to get permission from civil aviation and call the Strasbourg control tower before the big launch! 📞🛰️

The result? It climbed to a massive altitude of 17,500 meters! Eventually, it popped mid-air and came down in Germany, 200km away from here. To ensure we could recover the equipment and prevent any pollution, the balloon was tracked precisely via GPS by several amateur radio stations. Thanks to that precise data, a local resident was able to locate it and kindly mail it back to us! 🇩🇪📦

Our MYP French B students recently visited the European Parliament in Strasbourg 🇪🇺 They explored the Hemicycle, where plenary sessions take place and discovered how the Parliament works through an immersive 360° presentation. This enriching experience will provide valuable context as they continue exploring the roles of France and Europe in their upcoming French lessons 🇫🇷

Bittersweet moments yesterday as we held a special farewell ceremony for our five wonderful DP2 students, surrounded by their families and teachers at l'Orée 85 ✨ The night was filled with laughter, shared memories, emotional speeches from both staff and students and meaningful parting gifts.

A beautiful speech by our headteacher, Janel, perfectly captured the pride and happiness our parents felt throughout their children's journey within the ISS community. The evening proved that what we have built here goes far beyond the classroom, we are a family. We are incredibly proud of our departing students and wish them the absolute best for their next chapter! ❤️🎓

Some of our students recently stepped off campus to explore a fascinating place in the city: the Château Musée Vodou 🔮

They had a great time diving into the rich history and traditions of West African culture. From exploring this vast private collection of voodoo artifacts to learning about the deep symbolism behind them, our students were glad to discover a culture and history that is little-known. It was the perfect blend of art, history and cultural discovery! 🌍🎭

🎨✨ Creativity meets purpose! Check out the great work from our MYP 3 & 4 students for their Design project - they transformed blank t-shirts into powerful statements! From custom fonts to original logos, each piece reflects themes close to their hearts: identity, environmental awareness and literacy 👕💬

These are not just t-shirts, they are wearable art with a message. Keep an eye out as we display them around school very soon! 🏫

Today marks the official start of the first-ever International School Strasbourg Football World Cup! 🌍⚽

This initiative was created by our very own teacher, Flavien, a football enthusiast who wanted to unite our international community around a shared passion. In his words: "In our international context, it felt important to bring the whole school together to celebrate our incredible diversity through sport."

Here is the game plan:

- 8 Teams of 5 players, featuring everyone from Grade 4 to DP2 and even our teachers!
- The format: 10-minute knockout matches. Win and move on, lose and you're out!
- When: every Wednesday (weather permitting) at the school campus City Stade.
- The prize: a trophy for the ultimate champions! 🏆

🔥 Match Day 1 Result:
The competition started with a bang! Paraguay faced off against Turkey in a thrilling opener. After a hard-fought battle, Paraguay secured the victory and their spot in the next round! 🇵🇾

Stay tuned for weekly updates on the next matches. We hope this will become a new annual ISS tradition!

Good luck to all our players, may the best team win! ⚽💪

After a wonderful Easter break, we are officially back in action and making the most of this beautiful spring weather 🌞

There is nothing quite like the magic of a story under the sun. Our students love trading their desks for the grass as their French teacher shares the enchanting "Tant que le café est encore chaud" by Toshikazu Kawaguchi ☕️🌸

It’s so good to be back together, enjoying the fresh air and a great book!
