“Languages unite! How languages shape inclusion” — this is the European Commission's theme for this year’s European Day of Languages, celebrated on 26 September. It focuses on the role of multilingualism in education, participation, public services and social inclusion.

In EUNICE, we use nine European languages apart from English: German, Spanish, Italian, French, Swedish, Greek, Polish, Finnish, and Portuguese.

Across the countries represented in our university alliance, many other languages also enjoy official or co-official status, including: Danish, North Frisian, Saterland Frisian, Upper Sorbian, Lower Sorbian, Catalan, Valencian, Galician, Basque, Occitan/Aranese, Slovene, Ladin, Dutch, Mirandese, etc. In addition, numerous other languages are officially recognised, protected or granted special linguistic rights at regional or local level.

Teaching online is much more than moving your classroom content to Zoom.

To keep students engaged, motivated, and actively learning, online courses need their own teaching strategies and design principles.
