Great news! The IALA Level 1.1 AtoN Manager course is now available in the Spanish language!
The L1.1 AtoN Manager course is considered the comprehensive training course for every AtoN manager. To date, the course has been delivered in English and French and is now set to be delivered in Spanish by AtoN experts of the Colombian Escuela Naval de Cadetes “Almirante Padilla” (ENAP), with the support of IALA World-Wide Academy.

It is a privilege for IALA World-Wide Academy to celebrate and recognise the role seafarers play in maritime transportation and safety of navigation during the International Seafarers' Day. Seafarers are one of the most important assets in the maritime transportation sector, as well as one of the primary beneficiaries of Marine AtoN services and VTS. The IALA World-Wide Academy continues its work through training and Capacity building to promote the importance of Marine to ensure that the movements of vessels are safe, expeditious and cost-effective while protecting the environment.

Last week, the IALA World-Wide Academy capacity building and ressources manager oversaw the training on VTS/SAR VHF Communications Induction for Yemen Maritime authority personnnel. The training was hosted by the Maritime Sciences and Technology Institute MARSATI in Batroun Lebanon, in collaboration with Centro Jovellanos.
This collaboration of the International Maritime Organization - IMO and IALA World-Wide Academy is part of various activities under the EU-funded "Regional Programme for Maritime Security in the Red Sea Area”. Under this programme, IMO aims to assist participating countries to enhance maritime security and safety in the Red Sea Area, in line with the 2050 Africa’s Integrated Maritime Strategy. Similar training was offered to officials from the participating countries in the Red Sea, with a view to develop and implement improved port security governance.

FORMATION DE L’AISM SUR L'UTILISATION DE L’OUTILS DE GESTION DES RISQUES (SIRA)
L'Académie mondiale de l'AISM, en collaboration avec les Affaires Maritimes Ivoiriennes, le Port Autonome de San Pedro, le Port Autonome D’Abidjan et l’Académie Régionale des Sciences et Techniques de la Mer organisera une formation sur les outils de gestion des risques de l'AISM (Simplified IALA Risk Assessment), du 12 au 14 Juillet 2023 au port autonome d’Abidjan Cote d’Ivoire.
Après avoir terminé cette formation, les participants auront une compréhension approfondie de la boîte à outils (SIRA) et seront en mesure d'appliquer les outils pour gérer les risques liés aux voies navigables.
La formation s'adresse à toutes les personnes impliquées dans le mouvement sûr et efficace des navires, y compris les fournisseurs de STM et d'ANM, les autorités portuaires, les prestataires de pilotage, les gestionnaires de voies navigables, les services alliés, les planificateurs de l'espace maritime, les régulateurs maritimes, les organismes de formation et les consultants.
06 places sont réservées aux participants internationaux en plus des participants ivoiriens ; Les participants reçoivent un certificat de réussite.

IALA-accredited training organizations return to normal and deliver the IALA Level 1.1 Manager course. The IALA L1.1 Marine Aids to Navigation (AtoN) Manager training course is intended for those responsible for the operational management and implementation of AtoN services. Candidates may be employed by competent authorities charged with providing AtoN services or by port authorities, AtoN manufacturers, or maritime consultants.
The training is now being conducted in French by ISEM (Institut Supérieur d'Etudes Maritimes) in Morocco and in English by the Suriname AtoN Academy in Suriname.

In Asia, China MSA aids to navigation Training Center will run a course for potential Level 1 aids to navigation managers in Shanghai, Xiami Jimei University and Wenzhou AtoN training Center from 29 August to 24 September 2023.
The course is open to students who possess one or more of the following:
· Recognised qualification in engineering or related sciences e.g., hydrography, or qualification from an accredited maritime college.
· Seagoing Master’s certificate or equivalent naval qualification
· IALA AtoN L1.2 certificates with at least 3 years’ fieldwork
· At least 2 years’ work experience with a recognised AtoN provider in a junior management capacity.
· In addition, it is expected that participants should have attained the International English Language Testing System (IELTS Band 5 or equivalent) before commencing the course.
China MSA will undertake all cost of training, accommodation and transportation in China. Invitation letters will be supplied if you need them.
Further, the IALA WWA provides sponsorship opportunities. The following criteria are used to award the sponsorships:
- The program is only open to public sector employees
- Further, the employer must submit a financial support request

The use of IALA Risk management toolbox (L.1.3)
The training on the use of the IALA Risk management toolbox scheduled from 24 to 28 July at the IALA HQ in France still has some spots available.
There will be lectures and case studies presented by experts in the field on SIRA, PAWSA, IWRAP and Simulation.
These are already registered participants with a wide range of backgrounds in the fields of AtoN management, VTS management, and hydrographic services management, respectively. There are still places available for the IALA course on procurement processes and practice for marine aids to navigation, which starts in less than a month, from 19 to 23 Juin 2022 at IALA HQ in Saint Germain en Laye, France.
The training is open to all students, regardless of prior procurement expertise, but would be especially beneficial to AtoN managers, individuals who provide AtoN administration support, and AtoN suppliers.
This course completes the IALA Procurement course by combining the content of the IALA Principles of Procurement and Managing the Procurement Process courses. It will provide actual examples of AtoN procurement, and students will gain skills and be provided practical tools to help them with these common procurement concerns in their everyday work.
