😃 The scientific week has begun!
The Manutech-SLEIGHT’s consortium (students and researchers) are gathered at D'ingénieurs Télécom Saint-Etienne to follow the 12th edition of the SLEIGHT Science Event of our Graduate School. The talks will be on the topics of computational reproductibility in imaging, phase contrast in x-ray imaging, electron microscopy for in-situ analysis and optical microscopy in biology and medicine.

This event is organized in partnership with GdR IASIS .

A Special thanks to Christophe Gravier and Télécom Saint-Etienne to welcome again this event in their building, but also to the teams (IT and reception) to help us with the organization of this event.

👨‍🏫 Emmanuel BRUN, Research Director at Inserm, is the sixth and last guest speaker of our 12th SLEIGHT Science Event.

🔎 He has been developping for more than 15 years the numerical and experimental tool of biomedical X-Ray Phase Contrast and Dark-field Imaging.

👨‍🏫 Sorina Pop, Research Engineer at CNRS, Inserm Claude Bernard Lyon 1, Université Jean Monnet Saint-Étienne is the fifth guest speaker of our 12th SLEIGHT Science Event.

🔎 Her activity is focused on optimizing the ex*****on of medical image processing applications on heterogeneous systems.

🎤 She will give a talk on "Computational reproductibility: an overview illustrated with examples from the medical imaging research community" - ⏰ Wednesday, 10 July, at 9AM

👨‍🏫 Renaud PODOR, CNRS Research Engineer at (Institut de Chimie Séparative de Marcoule) and Philippe Steyer, Professor at INSA Lyon, Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1 will give the 3rd course of our 12th SLEIGHT Science Event.

🔎 Renaud PODOR is in charge of methodological and instrumental developments in the field of electron microscopy.
🔎 Philippe STEYER’s research activity concerns nanomaterials and advanced functional PVD thin films, for which he develops original in situ small-scale characterization through electron microscopies.

🎤 They will give a talk in two parts :
Part 1 : " Advanced electron microscopy for a better understanding of in situ material dynamics "
Part 2 : Small scale characterization of advanced thin films by in situ electron microscopies

👨‍🏫 Olivier HAEBERLE, Professor at Institut de Recherche en Informatique, Mathématiques, Automatique et Signal, Université de Haute-Alsace UHA is the second guest speaker of our 12th SLEIGHT Science Event.

🔎 He teaches digital electronics, embedded systems and unconventional imaging but also leads at research institute the optical imaging and image processing group, focusing on optical microscopy.

🎤 He will give a talk on "Image formation in optical microscopy: from 2-D contrast-only to 3-D quantitative imaging" - ⏰ Monday, 8 July, at 1:30PM

✨ [SSE #12 - FOCUS] ✨

👨‍🏫 Ruth SIMS, Postdoctoral Researcher at Inserm, Institut de la Vision (Inserm, CNRS , Université Sorbonne Paris Nord), is the first guest speaker of our 12th SLEIGHT Science Event.

🔎 She is a specialist in novel optical approaches to perturb and record the activity of neurons in the brain. She worked on volumetric imaging accross spatio-temporal scales in biology with fluorescence microscopy.

🎤 She will give a talk on "Parallel two-photon optogenetics and voltage imaging" - ⏰ Monday, 8 July, at 9AM

During three days, guest lecturers will address selected subtopics in imaging, a transverse domain of common interest to a broad subset in Manutech-SLEIGHT Graduate School research. The Graduate School also organises a specific session open to master students, PhD students and young doctors.

During each January edition of the SLEIGHT Science Event, master students are encouraged to present a 5 to 8 minute pitch showing their approach to a specific subject: a directed research project they worked on during the first semester or the scientific question they tried to answer during an internship in R&D or in a lab.
