As shown in the video, it’s all about rotation and a gentle downward pressure. If you pull the clay toward you, you’ll thin it out too much and risk creating small cracks. By guiding the clay with your index finger in a circular motion, the spout opens naturally on its own.

Wet your finger: Always keep your guiding finger wet to avoid friction.
Rotate, don't pull: Move downward while rotating to let the clay lean outward.
Speed is key: Once you have the position, the final lift happens very quickly.
