A little satay noodle bowl from this weeks retreat with soft.life.retreat that went down a storm 🥰

I’m such a huge believer in food as medicine but it should also be one of our great joys in life! Colour! Flavour! Lip smacking zing and bite and crunch!

When people stay with us they are often amazed at the wild and sometimes random seeming variation of dishes I concoct but that’s how I love it 💕

Another beautiful week complete with the gorgeous soft.life.retreat 🥰 and they’ve already booked to come back next year so keep your eyes peeled for the details!

We get to meet so many different people here - different stages of life, different experiences and backgrounds, a hugely varying spectrum of personalities 🥰 - and it’s actually so rewarding to have conversations with them all. We could easily be called introverts as we love our quiet time, just pottering about - yet there is something interesting and necessary about connection. We’ve had so many amazing conversations with many amazing people this year and thank you all 💕

I’ve been trying to let go of PeRfEcTiOn lately - which is really difficult for a triple Capricorn 😅😅

Our first year here I was horrified at the state of the grass after summer - I was trying everything to keep it green and lush all summer but in reality, grass (at least the kind we have) is not a sustainable drought resistant plant and the only thing you could do is pump a ridiculous amount of water into it. There’s already too much water wastage in our world so I’m now looking at incorporating plants into the lawn space that are better for our local wildlife too 🥰

But to be honest, I think a little bit of reality and a lack of ‘perfection’ is what we need at the moment 💕

It’s been so long since we’ve had a fire due to the open flame ban but now it’s a lot less dry (and with over the top safety precautions!!) we got to have a fire pit on the retreat this week 🥰

There’s something really primal about building a fire and sitting around it - telling stories, releasing fears and eating marshmallows!! Weather dependent, a fire is available le for your retreat 💕

If you didn’t know, we are Jamie and Gemma, owners and hosts at HeartSpace House 🥰 hello!

We got married in 2023 and set out on our house hunting honeymoon to find our perfect retreat venue - somehow in just three years we’ve managed to buy and renovate the whole place and start what seems to be a success business!! After 8 years cooking for yoga retreats with my business Gemma Taylor I had so many things in mind for what we would need to make a great venue - we’re always adding more things to the house to get it just right!

We do absolutely everything ourselves - all the cleaning, repairs (to a point 😅), cooking, answering emails.. that’s us!

Two people who had a dream and are somehow making it happen 🥰 we’re so grateful to everyone who chooses us and our business, to us it’s more than that! We put as much love and care into what we’re doing here as we can! We are only people though and we do what we can, we always hope it’s enough 🥰

With that in mind (and this is aimed at no particular person or group!!!) we are just two people - sometimes emails get missed, sometimes we forget what we were doing when we walk into a room, sometimes things don’t work out exactly as planned.. but we can promise you we will always try and thank you all for being here 💕

Dinner tonight was an Ayurvedic FEAST! Dal, chole, cabbage thoran, Sri Lankan beetroot curry, clove rice, marinated cucumber and coriander yoghurt 🤤🤤

It’s gonna be a lovely few days! 💕

Cleaning up all today and tomorrow ahead of our next retreat 🥰

So grateful to Ali Wiseman - Self Care Yoga Classes and Retreats group for sanitising all the mats and blocks, that’s a job in itself! This September is turning out to be our busiest time, three retreats back to back but we are loving the challenge and doing what we love 💕

Last nights sound bath was dreamy as owt 🥰

You can add a sound bath to your retreat (at an extra cost) for deep relaxation. Sound baths allow the brain to switch from everyday beta waves to lower stress waves and help still an overactive mind. Nowhere to be, nothing to do 💕
