Adam Gwankaja (Kiswahili)
is a Tanzanian educator and human development activist

"I undertook language studies (Kiswahili, English and Linguistics) from the University of Dar es Salaam, and from the University of London, UK, I studied Education and International Development. I am also trained in development communication and journalism. I am experienced language trainer and translator/interpreter. I have pioneered developed curriculum and training manuals for Secondary schools and other training institutions including Non Governmental Organizations.

To me the essence of teaching languages, especially Kiswahili to foreigners is that it provides me that rare opportunity to share a culture in its totality. Through teaching others I have the chance to share with the world the only thing I hold most dear, Kiswahili. Moreover, as global citizen, I am helping open the world to the unlimited potentials of the East and Central Africa where Kiswahili is a Lingua Franca.

My hobbies? Teaching Kiswahili, storytelling, reading, hiking/trekking, eating and loving."

Abir (French Language)

"I studied English and literature in the Tunis Higher Institute for Languages in Tunisia where I obtained my Masters Degree in English Language and Civilization. I was born and raised in Tunisia where many of us growing up speaking both Arabic and French. This special linguistic environment has always made me feel passionate about languages and meeting and sharing stories with someone from a different country. I like to chat with my two sisters and friends in a cafe in my free time. I have a cat named Mouka and I have seen her grow up from a small kitten to a chubby fluffy cat. She is the next thing I love to my family, fiancé and friends.

I can teach French, Arabic and English. I have taught primary school and secondary school children English for over 5 years around Tunis. I have also taught French online for over a year working with complete beginner to advanced user.

I feel that knowing English has enlarged my world, making me able to meet and communicate with people around the world, now it is my turn to share the languages I have, so I can help enlarge the world of someone else."
