THE NEW TEAR DRESSES

A series of reinvented ready-to-wear dresses by inspired by the ‘Tears Dress’ from the Maison’s 1938 ‘Circus’ collection, imagined in collaboration with Salvador Dalì.

Mona wears a long halter neck dress in gold metallic mesh adorned with trompe-l’oeil fabric shreds, the reverse side of which is embroidered with crystals. Open-toe black leather boots with corset lacing and mismatched jeweled eyelets in gold metal and rhinestones, with a curved heel in gold metal ending in a hand.

Liu Wen wears a long, thin-strapped dress in black satin, with integrated bra and trompe l’oeil fabric shreds with contrasting reverse. Pointed-toe sandals in black leather with a curved heel in gilded metal finished with a sculpted hand holding the straps.

Luiza Perote wears a long, thin-strapped dress in white satin, with a vertiginous neckline and trompe l’oeil fabric shreds with contrasting reverse. Measuring Tape heeled sandals in black leather adorned with the signature Measuring Tape detail in gilded metal.

Chloe Zhao wears the ‘Isabella Blowfish’ look 14 of our Haute Couture collection composed of a sharp-shouldered ‘Elsa’ jacket in transparent crin dusted in crystals with a 3D sfumato effect and organza spikes inspired by a blowfish.
The jacket is enhanced with defying gravity hips and a matching skirt, paired with heeled mule in black dotted corset canvas.

‘SCHIAPARELLI: FASHION BECOMES ART’: A FIRST-EVER EXHIBITION AT THE V&A IN LONDON

‘Schiaparelli: Fashion Becomes Art’ brings together over 400 objects, including 100 ensembles and 50 artworks, as well as accessories, jewellery, paintings, photographs, furniture, perfumes, and archival materials creating a dialogue between past and present, showcasing Elsa Schiaparelli’s legacy alongside Daniel Roseberry’s extraordinary vision.

Highlights on display include the 1938 ‘Skeleton Dres’, the only known surviving example, as well as the 1938 ‘Tears Dress’, and a hat resembling an upside-down shoe - all conceived in collaboration with Salvador Dalí. Artworks by Pablo Picasso, Jean Cocteau, Man Ray, and Eileen Agar are also featured, alongside several of Schiaparelli’s designs for film and theatre productions.
Daniel Roseberry’s spectacular creations - including looks worn by Ariana Grande, Bella Hadid and Dua Lipa - bring the exhibition to a dramatic peak, demonstrating how he has revived the house while establishing his own legacy as its creative director since 2019.

The Victoria and Albert Museum hosted an opening night dinner, staged beneath the gaze of the seven Raphael Cartoons, to celebrate ‘Schiaparelli: Fashion Becomes Art’ - the first exhibition of its kind ever staged in the United Kingdom.

Daniel Roseberry was joined by friends of the Maison, including Chase Infiniti, Elizabeth Debicki, Daisy Edgar Jones, Regina King, Naomi Ackie, Gabbriette, Angelina Kendall, Farida Khelfa, Marisa Schiaparelli Berenson.

‘Schiaparelli: Fashion Becomes Art’ runs from 28 March to 8 November 2026 at V&A South Kensington.
