Born in Pau, André Courrèges
becomes a civil engineer, but he prefers fashion to design. Originally started with the Balenciaga atelier, where he arrives in 49. In the atelier he met Coqueline Barrière, his muse and future wife, in 1961 he decided to found the Courregès maison, thus becoming one of the iconic designers ever.
