French Startup Voodiz Mashes Up Social Media

French startup company Voodiz mashes up couch-surfing and broader social media-friendly concepts to deliver a service that allows students to post profiles where they can offer or take up accommodation.

The philosophies behind the start-up include learning about other cultures and forming real rather than virtual friendships. Both earning and saving money are also central to the idea – things with which the stereotypical starving student regularly has to deal. Students can rent accommodation in their homes to make extra income, or they can travel overseas for short term stays at a fraction of the cost it could be to explore a strange country without a Voodiz friend, who may be there to offer advice and suggestions in the foreign environment.
