✨ Save this as a reminder whenever you get discouraged in front of competition. ⠀
⠀
I know it’s hard to accept this but don’t let an existing player discourage you from pursuing your idea. It’s actually a great sign that there is actually a market for your product and potential buyers out there 🤗⠀
⠀
Think of it, players such as Pepsi/Coke, Gucci/Dolce & Gabanna.. yet they’re so different.⠀
⠀
What you need to do is pick your angle. You are unique, you have your own vision of how your brand should be executed in terms of product design, branding, who you should address etc.. ⠀
⠀
There will always be other players out there, the secret is to shift your mindset by telling yourself there is space for your brand and your own perspective 💙⠀
⠀
👏 Double tap if you agree !⠀

Hi there 👋
If you’re new to this account, let me tell you a bit about My Millennial Brand.
🤔 I’ve created MMB after observing that most aspiring entrepreneurs fail to get their ideas to life, stuck to the simple idea stage. And hey, it’s totally relatable. After all, dealing with a physical product seems much more daunting than dealing with a service. It might require funds to manufacturer your product, you feel there are already brands out there doing what you have in mind or feel like you don’t have the experience to lean in. A struggle that might lead to regretting not even trying !
🤗 Which is why I’ve decided to gather all my knowledge and passion for consumer products and brands to actually show you how to go from an idea to brand launch.
👉 My Why ? Is to help all aspiring entrepreneurs out there fulfill their dream in launching a consumer brand, whether it be a beauty, fashion, jewelry brand, you name it, the process is the same.
👉 My How ? Is by showing you ‘practically’/‘tangibly’ how it’s done. Guiding you with steps and frameworks
👉 My What ? A one-stop platform with tons of ressources coming up ! An online course, a blog, personalized coaching to learn everything you need to know from manufacturing to marketing, operations etc..
Stay tuned for a special surprise coming up ❤️

Have you ever heard of the term M.V.P, which stands for Minimum Viable Product ? The term was popularized by Eric Ries, writer of best-selling novel The Lean Startup.
What exactly does this mean ? It’s the idea of launching a product that is just good enough in terms of features and design to be purchased by customers. Instead of spending months and months developing a perfect product, don’t wait and launch a beta version to validate demand in order to minimize risk, and you’ll then be able to iterate and improve your product’s second version thanks to your early adopters feedback.
Done is better than perfect, so just get that product out there 😉

Hey guys,
It’s been a while 🙂. I wanted to apologize for my absence lately from insta. I’ve been super busy with a project I’ll soon be able to tell you more about. I don’t know about you, but the past months have been hectic with lots of ups and downs. For those of you interested a bit in my personal story, my BF and I were supposed to move to Melbourne before COVID-19, but decided to stay in Paris due to Australia’s border closure.
We had given up our flat in March and have experienced life as digital nomads, enjoying the countryside life between Brittany and Provence. We’ve since found a new flat in Paris for a new beginning.
I hope you are all well in these uncertain times.. I’ll of course soon be sharing again more content related to launching your brand 🌟
Love 💕

I often get targeted by these online course entrepreneurs trying to sell this fake dream how to build a million dollar business from dropshipping 😂 Don't get fooled, making money out of dropshipping is very very difficult to achieve..⠀
⠀
What is dropshipping anyway ?👇⠀
⠀
It's a model where you select one or several existing product(s), on websites such as Alibaba. Since these are 'off-the-shelf' products, you can't modify these products or brand them. The vendor ships the product straight to your customer whenever an order is placed. While this seems very attractive because it allows anyone to setup an ecommerce with zero upfront stock to invest, there are several issues with this model:⠀
⠀
❌ You are competing with many other e-Commerce sites selling the exact same product which makes it very difficult to differentiate. You end up spending a lot on facebook ads to drive traffic to your website which ends up reducing your margins, which were already low⠀
⠀
❌ Shipping each time single units from China to Europe is a disaster for the environment⠀
⠀
❌ You have no control on the customer experience: how was it packaged ? has it left on time ? etc..⠀
⠀
This is instead what you should be doing 🤗 👇⠀
⠀
✅ Create a unique product by changing the design, function or features of an existing product by going straight to the source of production, straight to manufacturers. That way you'll have an exclusive product no one else has⠀
⠀
✅ Stock inventory so you can control the whole customer experience end-to-end (but start small, investing in very little stock)⠀
⠀
✅ Create a strong brand because anyone can copy your product, but it's much harder to copy a great brand ⠀
⠀

Is Fashion on demand possible ? Covid-19 has emphasized the urgency to address fashion's sustainability issue. Shops are empty, filled with overstock, which leads us to rethink this industry's whole supply chain cycle.
Here are a few ways to achieve little to zero inventory:
1️⃣ Forget the fast fashion trend model and instead specialize in one category of products: become for instance a reference in blazers or in dresses with the promise of being the best go-to-destination brand
2️⃣ Adopt a pre-order model : only produce once customers's have placed their orders and make sustainability part of your brand narrative explaining customers why you chose this model and value/benefits for the planet making each customer an engaged activist
3️⃣ Use analytics to get to know your customers better: questionnaires to ask customers what products they want you to produce (design, material..), online measurement tools to make sure the fit will be correct to avoid too many returns
4️⃣ Make each product/drop launch an event. Communicate around your product drop to make it special and make sure to include a deadline to place orders to create a FOMO effect
5️⃣ Research local 'micro-factories': instead of manufacturing abroad which might lead to high lead times, you might want to research whether it is not more interesting to produce locally. Margins will be lower but having a factory close to you can ensure faster product launches

Let's talk about financing your brand because let's face it in product-based businesses, you will need at one point to spend to actually produce the product you're aiming to sell. Let's have a look at the startup basic costs:
✅ Business incorporation: once you've validated your concept, you'll have to register a business corporation to legally start selling. This varies across countries but isn't too costly if you begin with a structure that is lean to manage
✅ Brand IP registration: at one stage, you'll want to register your brand name in your product category to protect your business. This cost again does vary across countries but is worth the price
✅ Shopify platform: hosting your ecommerce on shopify will only cost you as little as 29$/month on their basic plan
✅ Business e-mail hosting to create your customer service email address will cost you as little as 4$/month with Gmail
✅ Domain name registration: this obviously depends on the attractiveness of your domain name but could cost as low as 12$/year
✅ Address label printer: this is a must to work more efficiently when orders flow in
✅ Inventory/material: this is obviously a variable cost and could cost as low as 50$ for raw material if you're producing your products yourself and adopt a model where by you only produce once customers place an order. If you can't produce the product yourself, this cost will be higher but can be financed with a pre-order model.
✅ Packaging : choosing the appropriate packaging will depend a lot on the type of product you're selling. Whether you select a box or a mailer enveloppe, this could cost you as low as 90 cents $ for plain kraft packaging.
These are the essential costs and doesn't take into account any advertising costs.
👉 As you can see launching a product-based brand is pretty affordable and doesn’t require thousands of dollars to pour in 🤗

Part of building a successful brand is actually finding the right product to sell. Unless you're aiming to launch a creative-related product, great consumer products should aim to solve a problem.
One major trend currently taking place, related to the larger inclusivity trend is acne positivity. Pimples are still in 2020 a major source of stress, for many teenagers and adults and there is still no miracle product.
One startup has decided to address this problem through pimple patches imported from Korea.
It's not a brand new concept but has taken a totally different approach than competitors. Instead of hiding your spots, trying to cover them with all sorts of products & makeup, why not actually embrace them ?
Starface differentiated through :
✅ Target audience: the brand addresses 17-24 y.o Gen Z clients, tiktokers
✅ Design: the brand released patches in fun shapes and colors (stars, rainbows..), stored in a super fun yellow case
✅ Function: instead of wearing the patches at night, Starface patches are more of a status symbol, an accessory to wear at anytime during the day
✅ Positioning: part of its branding guidelines is to never use words like “blemish” or “imperfections” to describe pimples. Instead the brand wants to bring optimism and joy to something that has never been joyful or positive before
Double tap if you found this case study interesting 😊
