The Global Professional Skills (GPS) Program is AUP’s flagship co-curricular initiative. It encourages degree-seeking undergraduate students to engage in a wide range of experiences during higher education, placing personal development on a par with academic achievement in preparing for a meaningful career.
The three main goals of the GPS Program are:
- Encouraging purposefulness and intentionality
- Developing confidence
- Creating community
By engaging in a wide range of activities across AUP, students deepen their experience and understanding of where the global liberal arts can take them. Learn more about how the GPS Program helps students speak up at the link in our bio!

Leave it home! Hair dryers, curling irons/straighteners, small plug in appliances- These are super affordable in Paris and will have the right voltage/plug situation. For tech, adapters with the correct plug can be found on Amazon or at the Apple store. Our family loves this one: https://amzn.to/3CO5OFS

Leave it in! A good umbrella or hat- Rain, rain, go away… But when it doesn’t, it’s good to be prepared! Warm clothes and a good coat- It will be HOT when your student arrives, but the temperatures can dip to below 32 degrees in the late fall and winter months. Scarves, gloves, knit hats… all the warm and cozy goodies. *Note: there is plenty of GREAT shopping in Paris, so if your student doesn’t have favorites or wants to wait to buy there- that works too! ☔🌨❄

Leave it home! Shampoo and conditioner, toothpaste, nail polish remover etc. There are LOTS of pharmacies in Paris so don’t take up precious space in luggage with these things! 🛀🛒💅
06/07/2023
Leave it in! Living expenses for a month – or a credit card with zero foreign transaction fees *be sure to tell them you’ll be overseas for an extended period. This is a great opportunity to discuss finances and what your student’s budget will be. 🤑💰💶

Leave it home! Towels, sheets, pillows, hangers, kitchen equipment- Alllll of these things will be in your students’ apartment AND there are a ton places to purchase these things in Paris if needed like Monoprix, H&M Home, Zara Home and City Ikea to name a few. Wait till you’ve seen their space to decide what else is needed. 🛌🍽🥡

The Admissions Team has put together some great information for incoming students in their student portal! Topics covered include travel, arrival, and orientation. We are going to highlight some of what to pack and what to leave home in the next few posts. Keep in mind that shipping to Paris can be expensive and may involve customs charges as well as delays. It is best to travel with luggage and pay either the overweight or excess baggage fees. 📦✈️🧳
