I had the great pleasure of being a student on the Plum Village UK Be Calm Be Happy course, which was led by Tan. I thoroughly enjoyed BCBH. It was interesting, informative and above all joyful. My practice has been deepened and my interest in, and desire to learn more about, the tradition, has definitely increased.
The teaching on the course was fantastic. Tan was patient, understanding, and allowed his experience to flow into the students. He provided a very good balance of teaching, and allowing the students to contribute and understand.
I really enjoyed the way in which Tan summarised the previous week(s) of the course before going into that week's teaching, which was a good reminder not only of previous content, but also in which the content of all the weeks was related and dependent on the others.
I would definitely recommend Tan, and this course. I felt calmer and happier when the time of the weekly sessions came around, it felt like coming home. More widely, it supported my daily practice by giving it context and linking it to a wider movement and giving it meaning.
Tan's teaching is accessible to all. He is helpful, calming, and increases personal peace and understanding.

THE ART OF LISTENING IN BUSINESS👨🏫
📚 Listening is the single most crucial skill in communicating and building your business.
So, why is listening in danger of extinction? According to Seth Horowitz, an auditory neuroscientist from Brown University, “ is a skill we’re in danger of losing in a world of digital distractions and information overload.”
To actively listen you have to shut out distractions — put your cell phone on mute, tune out the noise, tune in to the person and focus on their story. This applies to your personal life, as well as your work. Try these tips to engage successfully:
✔ Make eye contact in conversation to make good impression
✔ Take time to connect to find common ground and bond with other person
✔ Reflect what you hear to make people feel like they are heard and understood
✔ Ask questions to connect the dots and solve the problems
✔ Make the most of every conversation, most of the business relationships have not been a business acumen but they came from being open to chatting with people and seeing how we all fit into the business ecosystem.
