You’ve been learning French for a while… so why is speaking still so difficult?
Maybe you’ve tried everything:
- learning more vocabulary
- studying more grammar
- listening to more French
- using language apps
And yet, when you actually have to speak French, you still feel stuck.
The thing is: not everyone is struggling for the same reason.
Maybe you know what you want to say but you’re afraid of making mistakes.
Maybe you spend so much time thinking about the sentence that the conversation has already moved on. 😅
Maybe your grammar is actually pretty good, but speaking spontaneously feels impossible.
Or maybe you can speak quite well… but native French speakers talk WAY too fast. 🙈
So before you spend another few months trying to “improve your French”, it might be worth finding out what is actually holding you back.
I created a quick 2-minute quiz to help you figure it out: “What’s really blocking your French?”
You’ll discover:
- your main speaking challenge
- your French conversation profile
- personalised advice to help you move forward
Because sometimes, you don’t need to study more French.
You just need to work on the right thing.
Take the quiz here: https://www.ohspeak.com/quizfrench
And if you’re an expat learning French, I’d love to know: what do you find hardest about speaking French? 👇

Still understanding French… but struggling to speak it?
You can follow conversations.
You know plenty of vocabulary.
You can even understand what people are saying to you.
But when it’s your turn to answer… suddenly, the words disappear or maybe don't come out as you wish...
If you’re an expat living in France (or another French speaking country) and you’re tired of being the person who understands everything but stays quiet, I’ve created something for you.
From Hesitant to Confident starts this September:
4 months of unlimited online French conversation classes :
- Join as many sessions as you want, depending on available spots
- Small groups — maximum 3 students
- Real-life topics and conversations, not endless grammar exercises
- September → December, so you get the consistency you need to finally make speaking a habit
The goal isn’t to make your French perfect.
It’s to make you comfortable using it in real life.
If this sounds like you, comment CONFIDENT below and I’ll send you the details. 👇
And feel free to tag an expat friend who is always saying “I understand French, but I just can’t speak it!” 😉

Student story: Ellen's French journey
When Ellen joined my online French conversation classes, speaking French felt intimidating.
Like many learners, she wanted to practice speaking but struggled to find the right course and a supportive environment where she could actually use the language.
So she joined the A2+ French conversation class.
Week after week, she showed up, participated in conversations, and gradually built her confidence.
As Ellen says:
💬 "It gave me a way to start thinking and speaking consistently in French."
Today, she speaks much more naturally and is now ready to move up to the B1+ French conversation class.
What I love about Ellen's story is that it shows something many learners forget:
- Confidence doesn't come before speaking French.
- Confidence comes from speaking French regularly.
Here is what Ellen says about her experience:
💬 "The weekly conversation courses are perfect. It is a comfortable place to push yourself and practice French communication skills."
💬 "Living in France is wonderful but learning the language has been tough. Samantha provides fun and interactive lessons each week to encourage speaking. It has really helped boost my confidence and allowed me to grow."
I'm so proud of the progress you've made, Ellen.
Congratulations on your hard work and thank you for letting me be part of your French journey!

August update: conversation classes keep going!
We know summer is (rightfully) a time to slow down but our conversation classes are continuing right through August, and honestly? The students are loving it.
There's something about keeping up the rhythm through summer: less pressure, real conversations, and steady progress without the back-to-school scramble in September.
If you've been putting off actually speaking French, this is a good moment to jump in.
Small groups (max 3), real conversation, no grammar drilling.
👉 Try a class for 10€ and see how it feels.

Tu regardes Le tour de France?
Maybe you live abroad. You’re surrounded by French all day.
And yet… the moment someone asks you a question in French, something just freezes. 😶
It’s not your level.
It’s not your intelligence.
It’s simply that no one ever really taught you how to SPEAK.
We were all taught grammar, vocabulary, rules…
But speaking a language is like riding a bike. No book can truly teach you that.
You have to get on. Fall. Try again. And smile when it starts to work. 🚲
That’s exactly what we do in conversation classes:
We speak. We try. We make mistakes. We improve.
In a supportive, relaxed space where there’s no judgment—only practice and progress.
Because confidence in speaking doesn’t come from lectures.
It comes from doing it. Repeatedly. Gently. Consistently.
Are you ready to speak French?
