On 3 June 2025, the Geneva Peace Forum & Geneva Peacebuilding Platform, together with the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA) and the Österreichisches Institut für internationale Politik - oiip, brought together the third edition of .

The event generated strong engagement, with over 400 total session attendances (in person and online) across six panels and roundtables. 💬 Highlights from the day included:

🔹 Reaffirming the Peace-Security Nexus in Turbulent Times: Vienna and Geneva's Common Agenda exploring how Geneva and Vienna can strengthen cooperation in response to today's interconnected peace and security challenges.

🔹 From Risk to Resilience: Linking Mine Action, Security Sector Governance and Food Security in Ukraine, examining integrated approaches to resilience, recovery and sustainable peacebuilding.

🔹 Rights-and Evidence-Based Approaches to Insecurity: Lessons from Child Protection, discussing how evidence and human rights frameworks can inform more effective responses to insecurity.

🔹 Risks and Opportunities in PeaceTech: The Need for a People-Centered Approach, exploring how emerging technologies can support peacebuilding while remaining inclusive, ethical and accountable.

🔹 Beyond Participation: Rethinking Partnerships in Support of Women's Inclusion in Peace Processes, reflecting on how partnerships can better support meaningful women's leadership and influence in peace processes.

🔹 Bridging Multilateral Ecosystems for Peace and Security, concluding the day with a discussion on how Geneva, Vienna and other international hubs can work more closely together to strengthen collective action for peace.

The discussions demonstrated the value of connecting multilateral communities across regions and policy domains, fostering collaboration, knowledge exchange and innovative approaches to today's complex challenges.

As the Geneva Peace Forum Meets Vienna comes to a close, today’s final plenary on “Bridging Multilateral Ecosystems for Peace and Security” offered an important opportunity to reflect on how Geneva and Vienna-based actors, states, and partners can strengthen collaboration across the peace and security landscape.

Speakers included:

▶️Ambassador Salman Bal, Liaison Officer to the OSCE – The Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe Secretariat, Permanent Mission of Switzerland to the OSCE, the United Nations and other International Organizations in Vienna

Throughout the day, discussions highlighted the importance of overcoming institutional and thematic silos, fostering stronger partnerships, and advancing more coherent and connected multilateral engagement to address today’s complex global challenges.

During , the last thematic discussion, organised by PeaceTech Alliance, Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung Foundation, and Principles for Peace, on « Risks and Opportunities in PeaceTech: The Need for a People-Centered Approach », explored both the opportunities and risks associated with emerging PeaceTech tools 💻🕊️

From artificial intelligence to digital mediation platforms, discussions emphasized the importance of inclusive, human-centred, and “Do No Harm” approaches that place peacebuilders and affected communities at the centre of technological innovation and governance.

This afternoon, during , the second thematic session organized by United Nations Institute for Disarmament Research and UNODC - United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime on « Rights-and Evidence-based Approaches to Insecurity: Lessons from Child Protection » explored how hard security objectives are deeply interconnected with prevention, protection, and human rights efforts.

Discussions focused on the importance of rights-based and evidence-driven approaches to insecurity, particularly in contexts affected by conflict and organized violence, and highlighted the need for stronger cooperation across humanitarian, justice, development, and security sectors. Speakers for this event included:

This afternoon, during , the first thematic session organised by DCAF - Geneva Centre for Security Sector Governance, the Geneva International Centre for Humanitarian Demining - GICHD, and Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) on « From Risk to Resilience: Linking Mine Action, Security Sector Governance and Food Security in Ukraine », examined how mine action, security sector governance, and food security intersect in wartime conditions.

The discussion highlighted the importance of restoring access to agricultural land, supporting livelihoods, strengthening community safety, and reinforcing resilience and human security in Ukraine. Speakers included:
