I diligently prepared some prompts around our monthly theme of patterns: habits, rituals & routines for yesterday’s Café Conversation.
And then… we just went off on all sorts of tangents. 😂
Which, to be honest, were much more interesting than my carefully prepared prompts.
At one point, *revenons à nos moutons* came up — “let’s get back to the subject” — although we didn’t always manage it!
But that’s rather the point. The theme is there to steer the conversation in a new direction, not to be followed sheeplike from beginning to end. 🐑🐑🐑 Once a conversation gets going, tangents mean we’re finding new ground to explore.
Et au fil de la conversation, plein de petites expressions et de nouveaux mots ont fini dans mon carnet…
Chat someone up → draguer quelqu’un
Je m’en fous / fiche / tape → I don’t care
Faire le vide → clear your mind
Every cloud has a silver lining… → À quelque chose malheur est bon
Une lumière au bout du chemin → a light at the end of the tunnel
Lots of laughter, lots of language, and plenty of detours along the way. So I’d say my abandoned prompts were actually a success. 🇬🇧🇫🇷
