I just wanted to share some highlights of my Wednesday class over the past few months. It's been a busy but fun-packed year! It's been rewarding working with some older children who love reading and have a great sense of humour! I have been proud to see those who started English phonics last year bloom into young authors. And those children who started this year have brought their creativity and unique vision to the group. I did so chuckle when the younger ones wrote business cards last week. Let me know if you need a dragon washer! Here's to the best weeks of the year ahead when children produce their best work.

Such a brillant year with my Wednesday class for fluent English speakers. It's been amazing teaching phonics again and seeing young writers create texts. So inspiring seeing the older children help the CP aged kids read big numbers this week.

And...suddenly the rentrée came and went! My children are happy with their new teachers. I'm excited about welcoming new children to Roots and Wings next week. And we have new books! What is not to love?

The end of year is always bitter sweet! Sad goodbyes to children moving on, mix with sweet memories from a trip to Moco. But the best part of the year for me is reading children's final pieces of writing. Short sentences have become whole pages, infused with magic! "You don't have A superpower! You have many!" Such a rewarding first year for Roots and Wings Wednesday group. I am looking forward to the new children joining in September!

Some great Haikus about Picasso (after reading Picasso's Trousers as a bit of fun for the last class).

We've been working on Fox which is amazing for talking about self esteem, friendship and trust. The symmetrical pictures and rich language give children tools for their writer's toolkit.

Should you trust a new friend who whispers promises that they are better than your best friend?

We've been working on Norse gods through reading Arthur and the Golden Rope. Check out the fabulous art.
