25 years ago today, September 11 changed America and the world forever.

Today, all of us at Orbifly remember the victims of the September 11 attacks, their families, and the extraordinary courage of the first responders and all those who came to the aid of others.

As a French aviation community with deep ties and friendships in the United States, this anniversary has a particular meaning for us.

25 years later, we remember. We will never forget.

✈️ Le nouvel Orbi’MEMO EASA est en ligne !

Chez Orbifly, on aime rendre la réglementation un peu plus simple à utiliser au quotidien.

Nous venons donc de mettre à jour notre « Orbi’MEMO – What I should know when flying EASA », un aide-mémoire très synthétique qui rassemble sur deux pages quelques règles et chiffres qu’un pilote IFR/VFR a régulièrement besoin de retrouver rapidement : carburant et réserves, minima VMC, validité des qualifications, expérience récente, LVTO, CDFA, choix du dégagement IFR, GNSS/SBAS, interprétation des TAF, Approach Ban… ainsi que le nouveau code transpondeur 7601 en cas de panne radio d’un vol IFR poursuivant en VMC.

L’objectif n’est évidemment pas de remplacer les textes EASA, mais de pouvoir retrouver en quelques secondes les informations opérationnelles que l’on finit toujours par rechercher au moment où on en a besoin. 😉

✈️ The new Orbi’MEMO EASA is online!

At Orbifly, we like making regulations a little easier to use in everyday flying.
We have just updated our « Orbi’MEMO – What I should know when flying EASA », a concise two-page reference covering some of the rules and figures pilots regularly need to find quickly: fuel and reserves, VMC minima, rating validity, recent experience, LVTO, CDFA, IFR alternate requirements, GNSS/SBAS, TAF interpretation, Approach Ban… and now the new 7601 transponder code for radio communication failure when an IFR flight continues in VMC.

Of course, the purpose is not to replace the EASA regulations. It is simply to have the operational information we regularly need available within seconds, when we actually need it. 😉

ClearNOTAMs : une fonctionnalité prometteuse sur ForeFlight, encore à surveiller pour l’instant ! 🔎✈️

ForeFlight déploie progressivement ClearNOTAMs, une nouvelle fonctionnalité destinée à rendre les NOTAMs plus simples et rapides à lire.

Sur le principe : on adore ! Tous les pilotes qui se sont déjà retrouvés devant plusieurs pages de NOTAMs savent à quel point un outil faisant ressortir rapidement l’information utile peut être précieux.

Après quelques essais, la fonction mérite cependant encore un peu d’attention : la simplification peut parfois aller trop loin, au risque de masquer une information pertinente ou de modifier la compréhension du NOTAM original.

Dans cette vidéo, Orbifly vous montre concrètement pourquoi.

Une fonctionnalité très prometteuse. En attendant qu’elle soit totalement mature, gardez toujours un œil sur le NOTAM original !

ClearNOTAMs: a promising feature… still worth double-checking 🔎✈️

ForeFlight is gradually rolling out ClearNOTAMs, a new feature designed to make NOTAMs easier and faster for pilots to read.

The concept is excellent. Anyone who has worked through pages of NOTAMs knows how valuable a tool highlighting the information that really matters can be.

After testing it, however, we think it still requires some careful cross-checking. In some cases, simplification can go a little too far, potentially hiding relevant information or changing how the original NOTAM may be understood.

In this video, Orbifly shows a practical example.

A very promising feature. Until it is fully mature, always keep the original NOTAM one tap away!

✈️ L’oxygène à bord d’un Cirrus SR22 G7

Quand on vole haut, l’oxygène n’est pas un accessoire… encore faut-il savoir correctement l’utiliser ! 😜

Pendant notre traversée de l’Atlantique, Alexandra profite d’un vol avec Bruno pour faire un petit point pratique sur le système oxygène du Cirrus SR22 G7 :

👉 comment installer et positionner les canules,
👉 comment régler le débit avec le régulateur,
👉 comment fonctionnent les canules Oxymizer, qui permettent d’optimiser l’utilisation de l’oxygène,
👉 et pourquoi il faut rester attentif à l’hypoxie lorsqu’on évolue en altitude.

Un équipement simple à utiliser, mais qu’il vaut mieux connaître avant d’en avoir réellement besoin.

Et puisque l’oxygène est censé nous maintenir parfaitement lucides… la fin de la vidéo permettra à chacun de juger de son efficacité. 🤪😂

✈️ Using oxygen in a Cirrus SR22 G7

When flying high, oxygen isn’t just an accessory… but you still need to know how to use it properly! 😜

During our Atlantic crossing, Alexandra takes the opportunity during a flight with Bruno to go through the Cirrus SR22 G7 oxygen system:

👉 how to fit and position the cannulas,
👉 how to adjust the oxygen flow using the regulator,
👉 how Oxymizer cannulas work and help make more efficient use of the available oxygen,
👉 and why hypoxia awareness matters when operating at altitude.

It’s a simple system to use — but definitely something worth understanding before you actually need it.

And since oxygen is supposed to keep pilots perfectly sharp and clear-headed… you can judge for yourself how well it worked by the end of the video. 🤪😂
