We welcome you to our page of the Academy in the Abbaye de Noirlac! The location is really nice, and perfect to be focused on seriouse work! It is indeed deep nature, therefore perfect to be concentrated on practising. We invite 3 young quartets and 3 young composers, all of them from all around the world, to share and learn from each other their passion on the string quartet and comtempo
rary music. The purpose of this Academy is to make young performers and young composers working together and to help also all young performers to see the close and necessary links between some historical repertoire and contemporary one. Each young quartet will work on a piece written for this unique occasion by one of the 3 young composer invited and another master pieces mainly from 1850. We coach the cessions, helping quartets to understand contemporary works, aesthetics, and helping composers to improve their notations, and to learn how to talk to performers. We try also to put the performers in another angle to see, analyze and practice the historical repertoire. It is, we think, a great opportunity for everyone to exchange their different experiences.
