Our large outdoor space and garden are a big source of pride and joy for us. At this time of year when winter begins to transform into spring, our garden flourishes: the green grass grows long, trees start to come back to life, flowers are beginning to bloom all over. There is so much joy in watching the wonders of the natural world unfold before our very own eyes....and believe us, where there is joy and wonder, there is guaranteed to be incredible learning taking place! The entire school will learn through their unit theme about biodiversity, plants and animals, and how they can adapt to living almost anywhere on Earth. It is sure to be a vibrant half term for us all!

On our last day before the children left for their week & a half long February holiday, our lovely Lindenwood parents joined us for a very special afternoon.

In France, Mardi Gras is widely celebrated and often includes two things: dressing up in costumes, and enjoying delicious crêpes! We certainly did those two things, and we also went a few steps further with this celebration. The primary school children had been studying the history and origins of France, so all of the children in the school dressed up in Gaul and Roman costumes. They were then ready to present some of their learning to their parents!

This February vacation marked the halfway point for our 2nd term of the school year, so it was an excellent time for our students to reflect back on the past half-term and share their discoveries with their families. Our youngest class, the Magnolias, have been studying time periods & families, so they presented their own personal family trees that they had created. The Wattle Class shared a song and some scientific findings about water and its cycle, and after that they debuted an episode of their own personal soap opera, “Wattle Ville”. Our oldest, the Cedar Class, shared what they had learned about the Gauls & Romans, and then they brought some science skills over to the kitchen to reveal what they had learned in their IPC unit “Shake It!” and creating milkshakes for everyone.

After all of these beautiful exchanges of knowledge, the children served up and enjoyed pancakes and crêpes together with their parents. It was a very special way to end this half-term, and we are really grateful to have such an involved community. We are onto our next half-term now for the upcoming 7 weeks, and we look forward to seeing what new topics our Lindenwood students will explore.

At the beginning of this month, we were all treated to a remarkable presentation of the seasons, from our little Magnolias!

"Where do the seasons come from?” This was a beautiful reflection led by our 3-6 year old Magnolia Class with Ms. Gwenaëlle. The students made a model representing the movement of the Earth around the Sun and they worked to understand why & how the temperatures change in Europe according to the seasons. They were proud to present their work to the primary classes, and answered many questions from our primary students, such as: "Why is it hotter in Europe in summer? What are the positions of the Earth in relation to the Sun in winter, spring, summer and autumn? How long does it take to the Earth to go around the Sun? What is the shape of the path that the Earth follows around the sun?”

In addition to strong academic teaching, we are committed to teaching our students “soft skills”, which are essential for their education and for their life: knowing how to speak in public, working in a group, debating, researching, questioning...
