🚨 The biggest mistake parents make before their child’s first drag lift…
They don’t explain what to expect.
To a child, being suddenly yanked up a hill by a moving pole can feel pretty scary! One bad experience can be enough to make them afraid of drag lifts for the rest of the holiday.
Take 60 seconds before they get on and explain these 4 things:
🎿 1. The lift attendant will help you. They do this day in day out, so let them
🎿 2. Stand up, hold on, and let the lift pull you. Don’t try to sit down!
🎿 3. Keep holding on until you’re over the top and I tell you to let go. (Instructor or parent goes 1st)
🎿 4. If you fall… that’s okay! Just let go, move safely to the side, and wait for me to come back to you.
💡 Bonus tip: If there’s a practice drag pole, have a go before using the real lift. If there isn’t one, practise the feeling using a ski pole so they know what to expect.
Those few minutes of preparation can make the difference between a frightened child and one who can’t wait to ride the next lift.
❤️ Save this for your next ski holiday, and share it with another ski parent!
