Faceting Apprentice

Congratulations to our latest graduates of the Faceting Bootcamp. It was a pleasure to spend the last two weeks with you and I wish you the best of luck in all of your faceting adventures.

A faceting demonstration from the teacher, during our two week Faceting Bootcamp course. It’s important to get good instruction, but it’s also good to see how a professional cuts a stone. There are so many subtle movements in every step, from preforming, to dopping, to cutting, and especially in polishing where there are a lot variables that you can adjust to get the perfect polish. Having a teacher who is professionally trained means that the techniques you are learning and seeing are time tested and will work in any and all situations.

It’s the first day of our Faceting Bootcamp in the new space! Very excited to be breaking it in with five curious students. Let the adventure begin!

We had some friends and a photographer at the school today for a photoshoot. Here’s a few behind the scenes snapshots I took of our new classroom in Lyon! We’re just putting the finishing touches on it before our first two week Faceting Bootcamp in a few weeks.

Have you considered taking our Advanced Faceting Workshop? The classes is open to anyone with previous faceting experience, and especially to our previous students. The weeklong workshop is focused on learning to improvise in your faceting practice. We do two major projects over the week to learn this skill. Both projects are focused on learning how to understand where the facets should go around the stone and the index gear. You will learn to see the patterns in your head and not rely on a diagram. It’s a fun week full of theory and practice and will take your faceting skill set to the next level. We are only running this class one time in 2026, at our new Lyon campus and there are only three seats left, so don’t wait. We’re beta testing our new classroom space in Lyon today with our first One Day Faceting Class in English. It’s so exciting and gratifying to see this space coming together and starting to look almost finished.

Congratulations to our newest batch of Faceting Bootcamp graduates. I am very excited to see what this group ends up doing.
