Day 18 of my advent calendar of French learning resources.

KwiziqFrench is, in my opinion, such a vital resource in anyone's French learning journey. The range of audios and texts to help improve your listening and reading skills is immense as well as hints for speaking and exercises for writing.

The site also offers grammar explanations and regular quizzes and tasks for you to put your knowledge to the test.

The site personalises a "dashboard" for you which concentrates on your needs and reminds you of areas to revise.

There is a paid and free version.

Day 17 of my advent calendar of French learning resources.

Podcasts are easy to fit into your daily routine and this one is perfect.

Louis, the presenter, gets right to the point with a topical news story and in about three minutes explains in detail the vocabulary he has used.

It's short, effective and interesting with a transcript and translation of the initial headline.

Released four times a week, this podcast is an ideal way to include a snippet of French into your learning timetable.

Day 16 of my advent calendar of French learning resources.

One of the most difficult skills to get a grip on when learning French is listening. The complexity of liaisons, speed of spoken word and accents are added to the extensive list of verbs, tenses and other vocabulary.

TV5 is an amazing resource full of exercises to test your listening skills in diverse range of topics and tiered under levels from A1 to B2.
The exercises are short, but authentic and so offer an accurate representation of real situations.
There is also an assessment of your current level which can then give you an idea of which exercises to start with.

Day 15 of my advent calendar of French learning resources.

There are several translation apps as well as Google translate.
Linguee is my personal favourite. It gives all the possible options for each word or expression, gives examples in context and explains the type of word it is.
It is often a good idea to look at a few apps to compare translations in order to get a better understanding.

A cup of French does this in an interesting, colourful and engaging way.

Day 13 of my advent calendar of French learning resources.

Innerfrench is one of my favourite podcasts. Hugo and/or Ingrid present interesting topics related to language learning, French culture or life in France. Sometimes guests are invited to give a different perspective.

The level of language, I think, is suited to upper intermediate learners. The speed of spoken French isn't too quick and there is a lot of useful vocabulary, including many colloquial expressions. Transcripts are available on the website to help with any more complex language.

It's generally a bit longer than many similar podcasts, but it means that subjects are covered in more detail.

Hugo started his career at the French institute in Warsaw. He created innerFrench to offer a different way to learn French.
