Portrait #3: Damien

Damien did the master degree quite a long time ago. He started with an internship for designing and installing a large solar sail for the Citée Musicale located at Boulogne Billancourt (near Paris) and working for TCE SOLAR / BOUYGUES CONSTRUCTION.

And, after:
1 year in solar energy,
1.5 years in wind energy,
1.5 years in an architecture firm,
2 years in a cost estimating firm,
I went freelance 3 years ago. (Time flies!)

I don't do design work, only site supervision, project management, and construction management, either jointly or as a subcontractor with architects.

The end of the semester was so hectic that I did have the time to publish our last news: coming from several prof from Spain & Engie Green, visit of a wave energy device, our traditional "galette" with our queens, etc... I will take time to revert time and publish those info soon...
But, the latest news is the official end of the semester! And, another tradition of is our end of the semester restaurant with the students! At the beginning, a super peaceful and quiet evening in a restaurant, slightly sliding towards a super nice evening with a lot of good food and tremendous fun!!!

This is the recruitment period!
And we would like to promote our master degrees. In fact, this year, we have two options:

- The regular 2nd year master Degree REC Eng (for students with a Civil Eng. back ground) and REn (for all the others):

This could be via a direct intake in the second year master degree. This is for students with already 240 ECTS validated... We unfortunately do not have scholarship for this master, however the tuition fees are very low (annual fees were 254 euros + 105 euros for CVEC in 2025/2026 for all students)

- The new ERASMUS MUNDUS Master degree RESCO:

This program is a 2-years master degree recently validated by the Erasmus Mundus agency. It consists of a first semester in Budapest, a second semester in Spain (A curuna), a third semester in Normandy (Le Havre) and a fourth semester for internship. For this master, we have several very interesting scholarships (1400 euros/month). As it is a new master degree, only a few people are aware of that and we need to make advertise for that... So do not hesitate to promote!!! 📣📣📣

Portrait #2: Yazid
Before starting the master’s program, I developed a solid background in public works alongside several years of professional experience in Algeria. In parallel with my initial studies, I worked for five years in a concrete production plant, where I progressively evolved from site worker to production unit manager. This period gave me a strong understanding of field constraints, organization, and responsibility.
I later made the decision to change direction and restart with a civil engineering master’s degree at the University of Le Havre. During my first year, I completed a highly formative internship at Legendre, working on a demanding rehabilitation project delivered within a four-month timeframe, which corresponded exactly to the duration of my internship.
At the University of Le Havre, the master’s specialization Renewable Energy in Civil Engineering particularly drew my attention. Taught entirely in English, this program combines technical engineering with the challenges of energy transition and decarbonization. The international environment, both among professors and students, created a unique dynamic and a strong group cohesion despite cultural diversity.
During this final year, I met the founders of Cameo Renouvelables. Their ambition to integrate digital tools and BIM approaches into renewable energy projects strongly resonated with my profile. I therefore joined the company for my internship within the design office, an experience that also revived a long-standing interest in technical drawing.
I then had the opportunity to be involved in the on-site follow-up of a wind farm repowering and extension project at the same location, two distinct projects developed simultaneously. This experience marked a key step in my transition to professional life. I am now preparing to move to northeastern France to support the monitoring of several solar projects as a Site Engineer.

We will launch a series of portraits of some graduated students, just to show all the magnificent diversity of trajectories of our graduated! To star with Tyler from California, who graduated last year!

Portrait #1: Tyler
Originally from the United States and after four years of working in California, I decided to switch up my career and found the Master 2 REn program in Le Havre. Following 6 interesting months learning about the renewable energy field, I performed my internship as a project manager for a company that manages wind turbine construction. This internship experience greatly increased my knowledge of managing the construction phase of a project and even more so helped me adapt to the French work environment. As of November, I have begun working in Paris as a project manager for a company that builds and installs industrial robotics. While this is unfortunately not in the renewable energy field, I find that the experiences I gained during the master and through my internship helped prepare me for this position.

Yesterday, Patrick Bertin came back to the university for teaching project management to our students. Patrick is now working as a project manager in RWE (https://fr.rwe.com/).

But when I said came back, it is not only because Patrick is coming on a yearly basis for teaching. It is also and mainly because Patrick was a former student of the class a couple of year ago!!!
This is great to see our our graduated students evolves in their professional lives... It is also great and inspiring for our current students!! And congratulations to him for all these achievements...

Even with the unprecedented record of Renewable Energy capacity installation at the world level last year 2024, there is still a need for acceleration and further increased installations says the IRENA (International Renewable Energy Agency). For the young students, this is the perfect timing to start a career in Renewable Energy...
So lets go and enroll to our master degree!!!

Verbatim from the IRENA Press release: "In 2024, global renewable capacity additions reached an unprecedented 582 GW. Yet this is still not enough to stay on track for the COP28 UAE Consensus target of tripling renewables to 11.2 TW by 2030. Meeting that goal now demands a staggering 1 122 GW of added capacity every year from 2025 onward, requiring annual growth to accelerate to 16.6% through the decade, according to the second official tracking report on the landmark energy goals set by the UAE Consensus at COP28."

Yesterday, quasi all of our students went to the Colloque National France Renouvelables CNFR25. They were coming to have close contacts with most of the relevant companies in the field of renewables in France, be it solar, wind, marine renewables, storage, etc.
I am sure they obtain many pieces of information for their future career, starting with internship but also contact for future jobs...
