Dry but super-rich, with honey, acacia and roasted peach flavours and a waxy, palate coating texture and depth.

I really love aged Fanken Silvaner. One of the world's greatest not-famous wine styles.

Day #3

Big day today. 116 wines tasted including 40 whites (great vintage for them).

A beautifully organised tasting Château Belgrave, courtesy of Maison Dourthe.

Then Château Ducru-Beaucaillou with the always lovely Tracey Dobbin, and finally the wines of Château Duhart-Milon and Château Lafite Rothschild.

Beer and greasy food needed!
