ISU provides an interdisciplinary education in the context of an intercultural and international environment to support the development of future leaders in the world space community. The SSP offers its participants a unique and comprehensive education covering all aspects of space programs and enterprises including space phy

sical sciences, space systems engineering, policy and law, business and management, space and society, satellite applications, and space life sciences and human spaceflight. Each summer ISU offers this intense nine-week course designed for post-graduate university students and professionals of all experience levels and disciplines. The site of the SSP changes annually, making it a unique educational concept and building on the fundamental ISU tenant of an international experience. The SSP core lecture series serves as the foundation on which the more in-depth activities undertaken in the seven departments are built. The team projects provide the participants with an international and intercultural team working experience wherein they must not only refine the topic as a team, but also produce professional quality reports and final presentations, all in the span of a few weeks.

One last BBQ, one big year to remember. 🚀

Last Wednesday, the MSc/MSS26 cohort came together with ISU staff and faculty for an end-of-year BBQ to close a beautiful academic year at the International Space University Central Campus.

From the first weeks on campus to the final Team Project presentations, this year has been filled with discovery, teamwork, and unforgettable moments. Students explored the space sector from every angle, from space systems, policy, business, science, applications, and exploration to hands-on learning, expert sessions, and project-based challenges.

It was also a celebration of what makes the spirit so special: an international, intercultural, and interdisciplinary community, bringing together ambitious people from all over the world, united by a shared passion for space and a common ambition to contribute to the future of humanity through space exploration. 🌍

More than a BBQ, it was a warm moment to celebrate the friendships, the late nights, the bold ideas, the laughs, and the community built throughout the year between students, staff, and faculty.

Congratulations to all our MSc/MSS26 students for their energy, curiosity, and spirit. What a year it has been. ✨

Session 2 of ISU's Advanced Studies brought two distinct tracks together under one roof! 🛰️

On the technical side, participants worked through satellite image processing, interactive dashboard design, and full-stack deployment, integrating real-time and historical Earth observation data into responsive, production-ready applications. 💻

In parallel, the space medicine track deepened its focus on astropharmacy: medication stability, pharmacogenetics, and personalized care for astronauts on long-duration missions. 💊🧬

Both tracks closed with final presentations, with live deployed applications on one end, grant-style research proposals on the other. 🚀

🌍 Thesis to Practice: Terra X Geospatial Intelligence For Farmers Takes the Stage at Factory #2026

TerraX began as a thesis project in the Master of Space Studies (MSS) program at the International Space University, developed by MSS26 student Assaf Shaked, with classmates Luis Centeno and Hila Shalev.

The platform fuses Copernicus Sentinel-2 imagery, NASA POWER climate data, ISRIC SoilGrids, and terrain models into field-scale crop recommendations in under 90 seconds, offered free to the smallholder farmers who need it most.

🏆 At Factory #2026, ISU's entrepreneurship pitch event, TerraX received the Paddock Award for its applied research and alignment with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

🌐The International Space University was proudly represented at UNOOSA’s 69th UN COPUOS session in Vienna, where global leaders, experts, and diplomats are shaping the future of peaceful space activities.

Last week, Master’s students Ruchira Huchgol and Sri Varshini Budi were ISU’s delegates, bringing the next generation’s perspective to international space diplomacy and cooperation.

We don’t just study the future of space; we build the mindset to navigate it. True exploration begins with an open mind and the shared belief that space belongs to all of humanity.

What happens to the economy if we stop exploring space? 📉

Prof. Walter Peeters, former President of the International Space University, has a clear answer. And it goes far beyond losing satellites.

In Episode 2 of the Why Space Matters podcast, he unpacks the real economic cost of stepping back from space and why the consequences show up much closer to home than most people expect.

Why Space Matters is a podcast by ISU's MSS and MSc students, building a global roadmap for space communication.

🏆 Last week, at .academy ’s , all four Advance Studies ‘26 (AS26) entrepreneurship teams took to the stage in front of 300+ participants. On-site at the International Space University’s Central Campus in Strasbourg, the day explored how space technologies and the space economy create concrete value for industries, research, health, and society on Earth.

AS26 students pitched their projects, built in just two weeks, spanning agriculture, commerce, research navigation, and regulation.

🌱 TerraX turns satellite data into clear advice for farmers on what to grow, when to plant, and how to manage weather risk.

🛰️ NodeSpace is simplifying satellite operators to spectrum, making the ITU filing process faster and more cost efficient.

👕 Give Me Space is building the world's first curated marketplace for space merchandise, connecting agencies, startups, creators and fans globally.

🔬 Ariadne maps the path from scientific question to launch-ready provider, routing researchers through every door in commercial space research.

Four ideas. Two weeks. This is what NewSpace entrepreneurship looks like at ISU. 🚀

🚀 Over the past two weeks, the International Space University’s Advanced Studies 2026 class were diving into two specialist tracks: Space Policy & NewSpace Entrepreneurship, and Ground Station Software Development & Satellite Operations!

In the Entrepreneurship track, the focus was application from day one. With guest lectures from Prof. Anwar and Mr. Harry Tab Ndip, students tackled real-world challenges and explored how new thinking can drive the sector forward.

Four teams built live projects, all of which pitched at Factory2026!

🛰️ In parallel, the Ground Station track gave students hands-on experience across the complete mission operations lifecycle.

Teams built and operated three platforms, from a web-based ground station and C # operations interface and received live telemetry from in-orbit satellites using SDR and GNU Radio.

🌍 What makes Advanced Studies distinctive is the environment. AS26’ students come from different disciplines and career stages. That mix is deliberate, bringing a variety of perspectives and ideas, reflecting how the space sector actually works.
