ABS Winterthur Holiday Club – Autumn Week Recap 🍂

This week’s autumn holiday club at ABS Winterthur brought creativity, adventure and plenty of time outdoors.

Students got crafty with autumn-themed decorations, colouring and painting, including some festive Halloween touches. A trip to Piratolino added climbing, sliding and lots of active play, while a visit to Wildpark Bruderhaus offered a chance to explore nature and see the animals up close.

Creative sessions continued with pottery painting, paired with playground time, and the week rounded off with a cosier side: movie time, popcorn, board games and relaxing activities together.

A wonderful week of autumn memories at ABS Winterthur.

Back and Busy Learning 🌟

The first two weeks at ABS Basel have been dedicated to exploring what makes a great learner, staying organised, and feeling comfortable in the classroom.

Students have also been reflecting on their wishes, dreams, and how a healthy life balance can help them thrive.

New friendships have formed, new routines are taking shape, and for some classes there's already excitement building for next week's camp with its teamwork, challenges, and adventures ahead.

Giving Back Together 🫂

At the final assembly of the school year, ABS Basel was delighted to welcome special guests from Children’s Home Vogelsang.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of pupils, parents, and talented bakers, the charity bake sales raised an impressive CHF 857.

This donation will help support the children’s summer camp programme, creating memorable experiences for the young people at the home.

A heartfelt thank you goes to the PEA for leading this wonderful initiative and to everyone who baked, bought, and donated. This support continues to make a real difference.

ABS Basel looks forward to another successful year of giving back together.

Ice Bucket Challenge 🧊

With temperatures reaching 38°C before the summer break, the Ice Bucket Challenge felt more like a refreshing reward than a challenge.

ABS Basel’s ever-enthusiastic sports teacher, Mr Radulescu, took it on with great humour, much to the delight of the pupils. There were plenty of laughs all around, and it was the perfect way to cool off on a hot summer day.

A huge thank you to Mr Radulescu for being such a good sport. Moments like these bring joy to everyday school life and make the ABS Basel community so special.

Who knows, perhaps another challenge will be waiting next year.

A Creative City Experience 🖼️

ABS Basel’s Year 5 students recently enjoyed an inspiring visit to Art Basel Parcours, where they explored a diverse range of contemporary artworks displayed throughout the city.

As they made their way through the Parcours, the students discovered how artists transform everyday spaces into places of creativity, imagination, and reflection through sculpture, installation, and interactive works. They shared their observations, discussed their favourite pieces, and considered the many ways artists communicate ideas in unexpected and thought-provoking ways.

The experience offered a valuable opportunity to engage with art beyond the classroom, encouraging curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking. It also inspired the students to explore new possibilities in their own artistic practice and to see the world around them through a more creative lens.
