That Bible verse on your wall won’t disciple your children.

“As for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.”
Joshua 24:15

Beautiful words. But biblical parenting is more than displaying Scripture in our home.

God says to teach His truth when we sit, when we walk, when we lie down, and when we get up.
Deuteronomy 6:6–7

Faith is meant to become part of everyday family life.

Talk about God in the car.
Remember His faithfulness at the table.
Pray when your child is afraid.
Celebrate answered prayers.
Tell your children what God has done in your family.

And single parents, this is for you too. You can build a home centered on Christ in the ordinary moments.

Don’t just hang faith on the wall. Live it in front of your children.

Not every new parenting trend is progress.

Some things are worth bringing back: family meals, healthy boundaries, chores, less screen time, consequences, parents who lead, parents who apologize, and families who pray together.

Strong parenting builds character, connection, responsibility, self-control and faith.

Save this for later and send it to a parent who wants to raise strong, grounded children.

28 apartment visits. Closed doors. Unanswered applications. Hope rising, then disappointment again.

And still one question:

Did we finally find our family’s new home in Switzerland? 🇨🇭

In this family update, we’re sharing the part people don’t always see, the waiting, the uncertainty, the places that looked perfect online but felt completely different once we walked through the door.

One home had fewer bedrooms than advertised.
Another looked straight toward a nuclear power plant.
And then there was the beautiful former pastor’s home that seemed almost too good to be true.

It was spacious. Surprisingly affordable. On paper, it made sense.

But none of us had peace.

Sometimes the closed door is not rejection.
Sometimes the delay is not punishment.
Sometimes what feels like disappointment is actually protection.

This search has become about far more than finding a house.

It is teaching us how to wait on God, how to listen, how to stay united as a family, and how to trust Him when we still cannot see the full picture.

Watch until the end to see where our search stands now. 🤍

Have you ever looked back and realized that a closed door was actually God protecting you?

Parenting through transition is hard, especially when you don’t know what comes next.

As moms and dads, we want to protect our children, plan ahead and make the right decisions for our family.

But sometimes parenting requires something harder than planning, surrender.

We are walking through that kind of family transition right now.

We can prepare, pray, search and take the next step, but we cannot control the outcome.

And maybe that is exactly where faith becomes real.

God never asked us to know every step ahead. He asks us to trust Him with the next one.

“In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.”
Proverbs 16:9

If your family is navigating change, uncertainty or a new season, this is your reminder, you do not have to carry the whole future today. 🤍

Follow for practical Christian parenting, faith-filled family life and encouragement for raising children through every season.

What if your family celebrated more than birthdays?

Not just achievements.
Not just answered prayers.
But also progress, waiting, hard seasons, and small wins.

One of the best things we built into our family culture was celebration.

A favorite meal.
A picnic after school.
Gratitude around the table.
Praying before a big exam.

Why?

Because children need more than correction.
They need to hear:

“Look how far you’ve come.”

Biblical parenting is also about remembering God’s faithfulness.

Are We Raising People Pleasers?

Is your child learning kindness, or learning to fear rejection?

Sometimes “good behavior” isn’t obedience at all. It’s people-pleasing.

“You’re making Mommy sad.”
“You’re embarrassing me.”
“Everyone is watching you.”

These phrases may stop the behavior, but they can quietly teach children that other people’s emotions are their responsibility.

That can grow into:
fear of disappointing others, weak boundaries, conflict avoidance, anxiety, insecurity, and constantly needing approval.

Christian parenting is not about raising children who behave so everyone stays happy.

We want to raise children who know how to be kind, respectful, honest, courageous, and obedient because it is right before God, not because they are afraid of rejection.

Before calling your child “so easy” or “such a good kid,” ask yourself:

Are they walking in genuine character… or have they simply learned how to keep everyone happy?

Save this for later and share it with a parent who needs to hear it.

🏡 LIFE UPDATE: Have we found a house yet?

So many of you have been following our journey as we search for a home and prepare for this next season for our family.

We have visited houses we loved.
We have prayed.
We have hoped.
We have had moments where we thought, “Maybe this is it.”
And then… another closed door.

So, have we found our house yet?

Not yet.

And this season is stretching our faith in ways we didn’t expect.

It is easy to trust God when everything is falling into place. It is another thing to trust Him when you don’t know where you will live, when the timing feels tight, and when the answer still hasn’t come.

But this is what we keep coming back to:

Faith is not knowing how everything will work out. Faith is knowing Who is leading you.

“Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.”
Hebrews 11:1 🤍

We are still searching.
Still praying.
Still knocking on doors.
And still believing that the right home, in the right place, at the right time, is not outside of God’s reach.

Maybe you are also in a season of waiting for a home, a job, an answer, a breakthrough, or direction from God.

Don’t confuse waiting with God doing nothing.

Sometimes faith looks like taking the next practical step while trusting God with everything you cannot control.

We’ll keep you updated… because this story definitely isn’t finished yet. 🏡🤍

Summer can be beautiful—but it can also reveal what school schedules, routines, and busy family life were quietly holding together.

More sibling conflict.
Too much screen time.
Disrespectful behaviour.
Exhausted parents.
Unrealistic expectations.
A lack of structure, prayer, connection, and healthy family rhythms.

What summer exposed in your family is not proof that you have failed as a parent.

It may simply be showing you where your family needs more intentional parenting, stronger boundaries, deeper connection, and Christ-centred routines.

Before the new season begins, take time to reflect honestly:

What was beautiful about your summer?

What was difficult?

What did summer expose in your children, your parenting, your marriage, or your family culture?

What now needs to change?

Do not rush back into another busy routine without paying attention to what this season revealed.

Whether you are parenting together or raising children as a single parent, this is an opportunity to reset your home, strengthen your family relationships, create healthier screen-time boundaries, reduce sibling conflict, rebuild family routines, and become more intentional about prayer and discipleship.

You do not need a perfect family.

You need the courage to notice what is not working—and the wisdom to make small, faithful changes.

Watch the full video and take time to answer these four questions honestly.

Save this post for your family reset, share it with another parent, and follow The Family Oasis for practical Christian parenting advice, biblical family encouragement, marriage support, family discipleship, and tools for building a strong, Christ-centred home.
