🇫🇷 Completing an online application? Take your time when uploading your documents 📄

We know how tempting it is to rush through an online application once you finally have everything ready but taking an extra few minutes to check your documents could help you avoid unnecessary delays down the line.

Make sure the entire page is visible, the text is clear, nothing is cropped and there are no shadows or glare. Remember to include every required page too!

Whenever possible, use a scanner or scanning app, and always open each file to check it before submitting.

A little extra care at the beginning could save you a lot of time later! 🇫🇷

🚨 RUNNING A BUSINESS IN FRANCE? FACTURATION ÉLECTRONIQUE IS COMING!

From 1 September 2026, every business in France (regardless of its size) must be able to receive electronic invoices through an approved platform.

From the same date, large companies and medium-sized businesses must also issue their invoices electronically.

From 1 September 2027, this obligation to issue electronic invoices will be extended to small businesses and micro-entrepreneurs.

But what actually counts as an electronic invoice?

For transactions between businesses established in France, the invoice must be created in an approved format and sent through a plateforme agréée. A PDF attached to an email will not be enough.

What about private clients?

👤 Invoices for private individuals do not need to be sent through the electronic invoicing system. However, the business may still need to transmit information about these transactions to the tax authorities through e-reporting.

What should you do now?

✅ Choose a registered plateforme agréée
✅ Make sure your business details and SIREN are correct
✅ Speak to your accountant if you are unsure how the rules apply to your activity
✅ Contact us if you need help getting set up 😊

There’s no need to panic, but don’t leave it until the last minute either!

🇫🇷 Confused about the new civic & language exam requirements? Let’s break it down 👇

Depending on the residence permit you’re applying for, the requirements are different:

🔹 Multi-year residence card (carte de séjour pluriannuelle)
You’ll need to pass:
🗣️ A2 French language level
🇫🇷 Civic exam

🔹 10-year residence card (carte de résident)
You’ll need to pass:
🗣️ B1 French language level
🇫🇷 Civic exam

🔹 French citizenship 🇫🇷
You’ll need to pass:
🗣️ B2 French language level
🇫🇷 Civic exam

⚠️ There are, of course, some exemptions and exceptions, but for the majority of applicants, these are the new requirements.

🇫🇷 The French administration loves a paper trail, especially when it comes to your name!

If you’ve married, divorced or changed your name, be prepared to prove every step with official documents.

This could include:

💍 Marriage certificates
💔 Divorce judgments
👶 Birth certificates
✍️ Official name-change documents
🌍 Apostilles and certified French translations

If the name on your birth certificate doesn’t match your passport or other documents, don’t ignore it. Even if you’ve used the same name for years, the French authorities may still ask you to document the connection.

Our tip? Before relocating, gather official copies of all documents showing your birth, marriages, divorces and name change, and check whether newly issued, apostilled or translated versions will be required for your particular application.

Preparing your paper trail early can save a lot of time later! 🇫🇷📂

🇫🇷 Don’t ignore deadlines from the préfecture or French consulate!

If you’ve submitted a long-stay visa application from outside France, or a residency renewal application from within France, you may be contacted and asked to provide additional documents or information within a specific timeframe.

🚨 Don’t ignore this request — or the deadline!

If you don’t provide everything within the timeframe given, your application could be closed or refused, meaning you may have to start the process again. This could involve resubmitting your application, attending the visa centre again, and potentially causing significant delays. ❌

✅ Take the deadline seriously and submit everything requested on time.

🇫🇷 Eligible for French citizenship? Now is the time to apply!

With the next French presidential election coming up in 2027, nationality and immigration policies could once again be subject to change.

We’ve already seen the requirements become stricter in 2026, with the introduction of the B2 French-language requirement and the new civic exam.

So if you’re eligible to apply under the current rules, now is a good time to start preparing your application!

🇫🇷 Moving to France with children? Do they need their own titre de séjour?

If you’re moving to France from outside the EU, your children will need their own visa to move to France, just like you do.

But here’s where it gets confusing…

Once you’re living in France, foreign children under 18 don’t need their own titre de séjour. They are covered under their parents titre de séjour until they are 18.

However, if you’re planning to travel outside France, there’s another document you need to know about: the DCEM — Document de circulation pour étranger mineur.

It’s not a residence permit, but it can help your child return to France after travelling abroad, alongside their passport.

So remember: visa to move to France, generally no titre de séjour while they’re a minor, and check whether you need a DCEM for travel. 🇫🇷✈️

🇪🇺 Married to an EU citizen and moving to France?

If you are a non-EU national, you should apply for your residency permit – family member of an EU citizen within the first three months of arriving in France.

It’s an important deadline, so don’t leave the application sitting at the bottom of your relocation to-do list! 📅

But if you’ve already been in France for more than three months… don’t panic. You can still submit your application and missing the deadline does not automatically remove your underlying residence rights.

However, a late first application may result in a fee.

The important thing is to apply as soon as possible ✨
