Phone Photography for Entrepreneurs

You know spring is in the air when your students are capturing that spring feeling all at the same time 😍😍😍🌷💮🌸🌺☘️.

It feels like a wonderful breeze of fresh air after a dark winter 💕.

Do you feel this new fresh energy too? Do you feel like showing your spring self? Your spring business, to attract your dream clients with new energy?

A few tips for that :

✨✨ Capture your subject with portrait mode in order to get a lovely blurry background

✨✨ Get close up, to catch the most beautiful details

✨✨ When you photograph in full sunlight, mind the shadows (especially your own!)

✨✨ Use an editing app (Snapseed) to put up brightness, in order to get that fresh crispy feel to your pictures.

✨✨ When you make a series of pictures, use one style of editing (or a filter) for all pictures, to create unity

Connect with your dream clients, I can't emphasise enough how important that is to attract them into your business. In the end, you just have a split second to make them feel that connection with you (and buy from you!).

So how do you do connect through your photos?

👉1. Define who your dream clients are
👉2. Define their major pain point that you want to address in your photo
👉3. Define what their emotion is behind that
👉4. Define your solution to their problem and make sure you focus on the emotion, not the problem itself
👉5. Think of ways how you can connect to that emotion visually.

✨✨ I have a lovely example of my new client Missinda, who runs Spastic Stitches Store on Etsy, where she sells prayer squares.
She wasn't selling as many as she wanted to and we had a look together how come. We soon figured out that her pictures were too plain, just showing the prayer squares without anything else.

So I suggested she started making flat-lays in which she could put objects that would connect with her dream clients.
So following the steps we defined this :

👉1. a. Religious people who are not well and feel the need to pray regularly and b. people that want to offer a prayer square to a loved one
👉2. a. They are not feeling well (sick /difficult times), b. They have a loved one that is not feeling well
👉3.a. They feel lost and are in need of support, comfort and hope.
b. They are touched by knowing that their loved one is not feeling well and they want to give support and comfort. Spread kindness and love.
👉. 4. Missinda's prayer squares bring hope, comfort and the message of love and support
👉. 5. Put in beautiful religious items to make clear these are prayer squares (Missinda was afraid to put religious items, because she did not want to offend anyone, but her dream clients are religious, so will never feel offended by that!) and connect with faith, and combine that with inspirational texts /cards, to give the message of hope, love and support.

And so, to my own surprise I DID end up with 'the original'.
I will never ever doubt the power of a vision board again 😍❤️.

Did you already have a go at making a connecting flat-lay?
Flat-lays are very popular (one of my clients said "I never noticed then before, but since we started working on them, I now see them everywhere!") , and for good reason. Flat-lays are like little stories, captured in one single image.
So how can you make them connecting?

Think of the following :

✨ Who is that dream client, that you are aiming this visual at?
✨ What is the message you want to get across?
✨ To what emotion are you appealing?
✨ How can you connect to that emotion?

For instance, take my client Missinda, who is selling beautiful prayer squares in her SpasticStitchesStore on Etsy...
She was not happy with the photos in her store, which didn't connect. So we had a good look on how we could make a visual that would definitely connect with her dream clients.
We defined who her dream clients were: religious people that need comfort in difficult situations (or people who want to offer consolation to a loved one) and what the emotion was (wanting to give comfort, spreading kindness and love, or wanting to have that).

So we decided to make colour matching flat-lays, using gorgeous pages with prayers/poems as a background for a composition of cards with beautiful inspiring words, glasses, a little cross and of course the prayer squares.
With my help Missinda () managed to make a stack of gorgeous new visuals for her Etsy store, and most importantly, she really enjoyed making them and finally felt proud of her pictures 🤩✨😍.

You can also simply make a flat-lay to tell more about yourself, as I did with mine (in the picture above) in which I shared my fav's: favourite sunglasses, favourite phone and the nature that I need to recharge my batteries.
The idea being that you show something of your authentic self, as you only want dream clients who love you for you are 🥰.

I have a terrible thing to admit 🤭... I'm the school example of the saying "the carpenter's house is the house that is falling apart..." (is that only a Dutch expression??). 🙈🙈
I'm really good at helping my clients grow their visibility, by teaching them how to make stunning, brand aligned photos for their business (and so with nothing but their phones!).
I absolutely love that, love seeing them grow from being ashamed of their photos, to them enjoying taking them and being proud of their photo streams.
And my clients love me for it (🤭my future husband would slap me on my fingers now, telling me that one should not say things like that about themselves, but I happen to disagree 😆😁).

But where I love teaching and helping biz owners grow THEIR visibility, I really have a profound dislike of having to keep up with my social media myself 😱.
I somehow always seem to lose myself in giving feedback on photos, making another tutorial for my clients, giving them support with my voxer sessions or doing a free challenge in which I connect with so many lovely people. Thàt is my strength. Not having to write another Instagram or Facebook post or a newsletter... But I understand that I must (sigh... 🙄). How on earth can I justify that my strength is growing my clients visibility, when my own social media is like a lazy sloth?

So I'm putting myself to the challenge here... I'm going to post e-ve-ry day for the upcoming 100 days (they say something becomes a habit after 60 days... I just want to be sure, knowing myself 😂).
