A great lad phil on this week. All the way from Ireland. I was. Expecting a irishman so had a guiness on ice ready for his arrival but Phil is originally from Swindon, and booked the whole lake for himself and got a ferry from Dublin to cherbourg.
After a brief introduction Phil had a quick walk around and plopped himself in peg 3 . He's was straight out of the blocks beating his pb Saturday night and then went on to beat it several times during a short week banking 4 fish over 40lb with a 46lb leather the biggest, a peach of forty plus common backed up by a few high 30s including two at 38lb a 37lb .
Unfortunately he had to leave mid day Thursday as he has to fly to the states on Sunday with He managed 19 fish in total mostly on the nut brittle tipped with a small dumbell in a pva bag and boated out with pellet.hemp and bollie and later particle.
Like Tony the week before he found a spot on the sonar that served him well sbout 3/4 of the way out where it dropped off he found a big hard spot and most his fish came off there. He got his baiting strategy bang on keeping them feeding. He baitboat logged the spot so automatically dropped on the the same place he said it showed him the water temperature was 21 ° which is unbelievable mid October.
He originally planned to.pack up Wednesday night to get some rest for the lo g trip back but his ferry was delayed so he fished Wednesday night resulting in his first grass carp all the fish were in A1 condition he said and thought well he lost a couple aswell but he was more than happy with 4 forties and a load of good thirtys to back them up on his first French trip.
I really nice guy to have on and I was pleased his efforts travelling so far was rewarded with some great fishing.
Sad his trip was cut a tad short but he's vowed to return in 2028.

Well no one on next week then Sue and Ron return to close out the 2026 season they were here in August but decided to give the autumn a go . Hopefully Ron let's sue have every take until she nabs her first forty . Ron had plenty of fortys and a fifty so it's only fair Ron. Anyway you can look for your wedding ring you lost last time you were here .🤣🤣.
We had 26 degrees yesterday afternoon which for mid October is crazy.

Nice too see someone's efforts reaping the rewards. Phil drove from southern Ireland to fish foxpool this week and i hoped he'd have some descent fish this week.
He was on 12 fish last night at dinner and he's broke his pb 4 times with a 37lb ,38lb and 46lb mirrors and a 41lb peach of a common.
Thankfully I was about on the digger to take his pics as his self takes at night weren't the best tbh.
Hes working hard and got them on the house bait piling 10k of nut brittle in and 5 k of crayfish and krill the nut brittle and maple doing the bigger fish.
I think hes benefited from Tony buying a bag of nut brittle late last week and sticking it in 3 . Hes using a baitboat with the attachment that spins the bolies out to scatter then fishing peg 3 and out in front of peg 2 .
Unfortunately he lost one that he said felt big after it cut him off on the monk and he has to leave Thursday morning to return to Ireland when he flys to the US sunday. But hes already planning a trip back in 2028. Im sure he'll have had a few more to tell me about when he comes for breakfast.
Phil is using similar methods to simon fishing a pva bag in the baitboat a kilo of pellet and now particle with a bit of our hempseed and the bollies in the spinner .

History repeated itself last week with the first fish out being the biggest from peg 3 at 42lb . Tony was tired after the long drive down and didn't get the rods in until sunday lunch after surveying the lake bed with his sonar on the baitboat, and he found a couple of interesting spots that served him well.
The boys didn't fish the house baits which I know always makes a difference and it will be interesting to see how phil fares this week on the nut brittle and UNION JACK BAITS crayfish and krill.
Tony unfortunately took ill mid week and pulled his rods out for 24 hours then packed up Friday tea time, too get a good night's sleep for the drive back. He took 9 fish, the 42 mirror then 3 x30+ too 36lb 3 x 29lb plus a couple of smaller ones . Poor Lee had a week to forgot unfortunately in peg 2 only taking 5 fish and nothing bigger a mid twenty he dropped a couple aswell and despite fishimg Tony's water in peg 3 Tony's rods were out he just couldn't get amongst the showing fish but I can honestly say knowones tried harder he couldn't of done anymore in peg 2 .
Thankfully a couple of inches of much needed rain this week to take the water up a tad.
Phil arrived yesterday from a long journey driving from Southern Ireland full of enthusiasm and dropped into peg 3 he was off the mark with a common the had a trauma of a double take just as he slipped the net under a 36lb leather and new pb. He had a large cat fish which he put back in unfortunately as he was in panic with the two fish at once on the bank unfortunately the only picture of the leather was in the sling as he didn't have his go pro set up.
Its a pb for phil and I told him too wake me up for a descent picture as he,s fishing alone hopefully there a bigga one on the way it will be shorter week than planned for phil as he has to leave Thursday due to work commitments in America on sunday. There's lots of fish feeding and the weather looks pretty settled the next few days so hopefully he follows up the good start upto Thursday. Cheers Graham foxpool

Lee and Tony , turned up a huge pick up trailer looked they packed for a month
Tony didn't fish the first night as it was dark after they ate
He got his rods out in peg3 and was rewarded with a 42lb mirror Sunday and followed that up 33lb yesterday off the reeds yesterday.
Lee got off the mark yesterday finally in 2 but unfortunately only a small stocky mirror a really fish definitely a off spring of tiny tina.
Steve pictures finally landed yesterday his biggest hasnt seen the bank for 2 years its the ugly mug which I had at 31lb 2 years ago now at 39lb I did contemplate taking her out as I thought it lake the lake down with its appearance..

The boys got off at just before 4am this morning after packing up after dinner last night to get the ferry from.dieppe.
The Fish weren't playing ball this week and I had too feel for them as last year they arrived only for the fish to start spawning but they did pick up some descent lumps back end of the week last time around.
It all looked like it was heading for a good week as they sat down for breakfast with the departing group who banked 3 descent fish on the friday night with steve landing a 39lb mirror and simon his 4th forty of the session they were buzzing to get the rods out as we departed for the airport.
Dan was straight out of traps landing a 37lb mirror within 5 minutes then a low twenty Saturday night in peg 3 and they said there was a lot of feeding bubbles and the fish were showing a lot . Matt got off the mark with a mid 30 sunday then it just switched off matt lost one but nothing for the next 24 hours we were back into the high twenty's again and really muggy a bright autumn moon lite the lake at night and at breskfast the boys said it had picked up with 6 fish in the last 24 hours a few more fish followed each day but the big girls were not playing ball the lads came to conclusion.that they'd had a big feed the previos week or they may have switched over too naturals as they had been so many caught in peg 3 the previos week .
A few fish turned up in peg 1 later in the week and they were showing a lot in peg 4 I noticed and with the marginal w**d breaking down now there certainly plenty of naturals to go at and i did observe smaller fish feeding in the w**d in peg 1.
Yesterday I was smashing up the old caravan and burning a fire by the stock pond matt had switched to pva bags on was fishing peg 1 water in the feld bank and he had 3 small common in the same of a couple of hours there certainly more come through this year as these 2 must of had 10 under 15lb which is double what everyone else had which is unlucky considering simon had 17.fish over 30lb last week alone including the 4 forties but ha ho thats fishing.
These boys are 2 of the best carp anglers I have on and they couldn't have tried harder but when the fish are not playing ball there nothing you can do about it they tried pva bags singles dan switched to maize which got him a fish off the monk but it was frustrating as you could see the fish and feeding fish with lots of fizzing but pick ups were not easy a few fish lost unfortunately
Matt limped into doubles figures with the stockies and 3 fish over 30lb a few lost aswell. Dan with a some nice thirties to 37lb also . Next on we have a couple of lads on there first visit to foxpool .
I have to say Dan and Matt pictures are great as they were last year its a shame simon didn't have them to take his shots last week as the only descent picture was the one I took for him. Hopefully he cropped them when he got home.
A little tip when your taking a picture try to fill the frame and try to get the minimal same gap at the tail and head in the edge of the frame and the same gap on top of the anglers head.
Big Thanks to Dam and Matt for there generous €100 tip and compliments on the food . These boys always cleaned there plates breakfast and evenings which is not a regular thing the size of my portions. Cheers guys. Graham foxpool.

Still warm over here with 29 degrees yesterday and muggy not slept in my bed all week .
But opened the curtains this morning too see some much needed rain falling, at last. France is still in drout and we had no significant rain since april and like all lakes we are down a few feet . Im hoping for a wet winter to fill both lakes and were forecast a some heavy rain from 4pm today all through the night.
The fishing has slowed a bit after the lads left Saturday. Dan in peg 3 had a 37lb mirror off the reeds past the old peg 4 within 5 minutes of casting out and a twenty Saturday night. matt had a 33lb sunday night but then it went quite for 24 hours but they picked 6 up in the last 24 hours and its overcast now and conditions look spot on for a few bites
Could do with a little more of a wind on the water that usually helps.
Ive been busy cutting trees down clearing a way for the trench for the electric and water through to the cabin on chads pool and now i'm getting some of the lake bed out that was left in last year when we dug out. I had contractor come over last month to give me a price on it but hes not got vack too me so the plan is too get as much as possible out with the jcb whilst it dry then get the rest out from the bank as I won't be able to drop it as low next year as the new fish will be in there then .
I want to leave a couple of platues in there as a feature in the shallows. It a long process jumping in and out of the jcb then driving the dumper in and out of the lake to move the clay I moved 45 ton in the last few days though.
Still waiting for Steve's fish pictures from week and nothing off the lads yet .
I need to order some more pellet aswell as i'm down to the last 4 bags
From the half a ton i got in june so plenty going in . Also need another ton of maize for the winter feed. Apparently due to heat this year maize is hard to get hold of and prices are double.
Bait prices will be going up next year as we swallowed increases the last 2 years but next year we have to pass on the increase. But the mb baits bollies I fetch over from the uk will be priced at €12 a kilo which is the same price you were paying for the nutrabaits when I took over in 2018. Beats the €20 you pay for shelflife crap at the tackle shops and both our bait suppliers are full of quality ingredients.fresh frozen baits.
Bookings are up on last year so if you have a date in mind get your deposit together to save the date ASAP or you may be disappointed. Im shutting in mid may for 2 weeks from the 8th to the 23rd as im having a big party for my 60th so need a week either side to prepare and clear up the week after is already gone so only the first week in may left now.
3 more groups left now until we close the end of October til the start of April steves over on the 5th of November to help with the work party and I have 2 places left if you want to help out and have a free week fishing so get in touch it will be sunday to sunday unless your driving as Saturday flights stop end of October. Very occasionally the carp gods aline and you have a session to remember. Thats what happened to Simon this week in peg 3 where he landed 27 carp for a total weight just over 800lb with a incredible 4 fish over 40lb and 13 thirties to back it up aswell as few smaller fish to boot aswell . He was straight out of the blocks with a 37lb fish banked within a couple of hours of wetting his line.. He fished peg 3 well making the most of the fish infront of him keeping the bait going in to hold the fish in his swim with 10k of nut brittle bollies going in 3 buckets of particle and 2 buckets of pellet holding the fish to complete his haul .
Simon had a trauma after leaving last year with Steve when they were hit at a crossroads from a young French driver resulting in both of them being hospitalised and there van wrote off and a extended French stay back at foxpool until they could get there van and themselves back to the uk and after a huge outlay for them . So I was pleased he had a great week after returning by plane this year. unfortunately Steve couldn't make it this time so he was joined by Steve and Liam instead, liam on his first french trip.
Liam peg 4 but struggled probably putting too much bait in to start rather than fish for a bite but he did break both his pb mirror and common with a brace of thirties. But he really enjoyed his 1st french venture and is planning on returning twice next year already now he's saw simon land some stunning fish this week.
Steve flew over last year so missed the crash thankfully and fished steady in peg 2 landing 10 fish to 39lb with several 30s turning up the 2nd half of the week when he got them going on coconut cream again fished over pellet and particle.
Over 40 fish out between them at the end of pressured season and a great session for Simon who said it was the best session he's ever had and i"m glad it took away the bitter memory of last years trauma.
This week Dan and Matt return it was a slow start for them last year as they were spawning when they arrived but they landed some nice fish the 2nd half of the week. So they decided to opt for autumn week this year so we will see how they get on setting up in pegs a 2 and 3.
Thats the last airport run for me this year as the last groups are driving over . Fuel prices keep going up and try to fuel up in the uk side as were paying €2.40 at the supermarket and I saw €2.78 on the moterway services crazy!
I predicted the back of the season would fish well after a extremely hot summer and thats the way it panning out with bigger fish starting to come out finally over the last month. It will undoubtedly slow up numbers wise as we get towards the end of the season i think, but one things for sure the fish are in top condition as we head towards winter .
We have a couple of places free on the work party week available to lads who have been out this year . You have to make your own way here via car or plane but we will give you a free breakfast fishing and tackle hire and do a curry night and bq . So if your free week commencing 5th November to join me and steve . You must be physically fit as work Will include peg work ,tree felling and cutting back shrubbery re furbishing the cabin, painting and general maintenance. A trip back to the uk this week to see family after a late notice cancellation. Simon joins us Saturday as we finish last few months of season.
Ive always fished france in September and love the challenge obviously the fish have been under angling pressure since we opened at the start of April so thinking outside the box bring it rewards. Strangers were always something I turned and pva bags but fishing off the bait can reap its rewards aswell as washed out bollies and maize is another option.
Its incredibly hot this summer and a lot of big girls are still to see the bank but as we head into October the fish are in
There best condition and packing in the weight ready for the winter slumber.
Ive drained the stockpond completely now and hopefully get the jcb in too scape off the sludge and lime it before we refill it . I did contemplate lining as its like drinking chocolate in colour and the fish are pale when they come out i may even gravel it see if that helps.
Ive put 70 fish into chads pool now and ive order another 50 fish upto 50lb to go in there over the winter at a cost of over £10000. 00 which is staggering and brings my investment in foxpool since taking over to well over £100,0000
Hopefully the investment and hard work pays off over the next few years i had a vision when I bought the lake and its a long way off where I want it to be yet.
Im still hoping to opening chads pool in 2028 it will be a runs water fir sure but the fish im getting and im very excited to see how progress. Im hopimg to get some grass carp aswell and will be adding a few tench into chads only and zander . Also want to put some perch into both lakes to keep the fry down and black bass are another option.
Obviously a lot depends on finance but booking for next year are higher than ever at this point so hopefully we have the funds to push in with the vision I had when I bought it 81/2 years ago .

Felt for the lads as they crowbarred themselves into the back of sean's car Saturday. 3 big lads squashed up on the long drive back to Manchester, thankfully they chose the tunnel so avoided the protests in Dover.
Just under 50 fish out between them pegs 2 and 3 doing the bigger fish agsin but I think matty and ian could of put more on the bank if they'd put more bait in to get them on it. But they both broke there pbs several times during the week. On there first french trip.
Matty had a brace of forties including a 43lb leather carp aswell as 5 x 30s for 11 fish in total. Ian reel broke so when I noticed him fishing 2 rods I lent him one but he seemed happier fishing 2 rods in peg 3 he had 4 30s to 39lb .
Sean in peg 4 got off to a quite stsrt but then had 6 fish in a night catching most all week with 3 fish at 37lb biggest. with 17 fish banked on coconut cream. The other lads used the nut brittle with maple over pellet.
Malc and conner shared peg 1 and the fish just aren't holding down there this year probably due to heat we had making the shallow water. Temperatures to high they did ok to be fair as matty give them all the island, which conner had a 39lb off but 15 fish in total the 21lb fully scaled came out again in the corner not seen that fish before then comes out twice in a fortnight.
Sunday the fish were down the shallows again mopping up the bait with plooms of clay and tails out the water.
No one on this week thanks to very late cancellation and next is empty too which is a shame as the fish seem actively looking for grub. i put some left over bait of malcs in off the jetty and they were straight on it.
Next on is Simon and 2 more hopefully this trip is better than last years, where poor simons van got wrote off on his way home a new transit custom so he's flying this year to be safe . Simon and steve have been regulars over the last few years but steve not allowed this year apparently hes has to stay home and do his chores 🤣🤣🤣. Hopefully next year he grows a set of balls. Only joking mate.
I going over to a lake in loire tomorrow to sort out with the owner the details of when hes draining down as im buying the excess carp off him for chads pool .
There's 70 fish been moved over there now and we netted the last out of the stockpond last week so its empty now and I want to get the digger and dumper in there and clean off the soft clay and lime it ready to fill over the winter.
Im also wanting to but some more predators to get the bio mass right as now most the catfish have gone were getting a few small carp coming through some lovely scsled mirrors amongst them which we will grow on the stock pond next few years .
Heres the pictures from what the lads had last week I only have 1 week left this year 17th to 24th . Sue and Ronnie are back on the 24th to bring the curtain down on this year. Ron lost his wedding ring last month so hes bringing his scuba gear and a magnet 😁😁. Hope he brings a dry suit as the water temperature will have dropped since his last visit in August.

The pictures from last week have arrived 18 fish for Stephen in peg 2 mainly from mid water on coconut cream to start then switched to nut brittle after Alex started catching well on it . 5 fish over 40lb .,20 over 30lb between them Alex was straight out of the traps landing a forty first then 3 more in peg 1 before switching to peg 4 where the margin and island were the main spots . Mb baits nut brittle with maple has been over looked this year , I think i only sold 1 bag prior too last week but its a great smelling bait and Alex fished nut brittle waftas over pellet and particle and caught consistently all week breaking his pb many times during his stay finished with blackspot going over 40lb for the first time and first visit to the bank .
After all the lads on this week caught first 24 hours it slowed a bit but matty in peg 2 has had a brace of forties including a 43lb leather and hes on 6 fish now on the nut brittle . . Malc in peg 1 is struggling as the fish aren't down in the shallows so there gong to swap tomorrow as matt is made up with what hes had so far.
