A good start for the 2 lads on this week steve and Alex with 12 fish out so far 6 30s to 37lb a forty for Alex from peg 1 on his first morning here a couple lost last night to hookpulls . Im predicting the bigger fish getting on it now rhe weathers cooled although were at 29° here currently. A bit of rain this morning but more predicted later in the week.

Another hot week with high 30s all week this heat is unbearable with 38 &39 degrees Thursday and friday. I hate winters as a rule but i can't wait to see the back of this summer its not healthy and sleeping isn't easy.
The Taskers did really well bagging just over 20 fish a brace of forties for debbie and Ronnie but poor sues wait continued with 37lb mirror her biggest but as they brought there rods in this morning she had a corker of little scaley mirror and a fish im calling the corker . Very similar to tiny tina on the front flank and another for the future its not all about big weights when you see carp like this like ron said .
The heat is set to continue to the foreseeable future I just been to a farmer freind of mine who uses the best weather forecast and he said there predicting no rain for another 2 months.
Im thanking my lucky stars that I dug out chads pool last year as I dont think we'd of been able to finish the season with out the extra water . I drove past a private lake yesterday which was 2/3 empty and dead carp filling the surface area. A lot of lakes are struggling now but were ok . My original intention was to upgrade to crew cab last year thankfully i changed my mind and dug another 2feet out of chads pool.
We still have space in September and october my favourite time to fish france
Prices are frozen for next season also if you want to get book up . The taskers? Will be returning again for sue to have another go at bagging her 1st forty.
It was a lot quiter without young Ronnie and krystal missed Rons banter with his mum and dad.
Just like to wish them both good luck with the forthcoming birth of the 1st child and hopefully see you again soon. Thanks Graham foxpool.

After a good start with all 3 landing fish in there 1st 24 hours , then it slowed a bit with the heat hitting 34 degrees ronnie had a 31lb and sue a 16lb but a blank night for debbie after putting 4 fish on the bank.
They had a move about yesterday with Debbie going into peg1 and ron and Sue moving the marquee of a bivvy to peg 2 .
All hell broke lose last night just as I put there steaks on the table Ron's rod screamed off resulting in a 33lb mirror, then not long after there rods were off again and sue hit the wrong rod much to Ronnie's annoyance as hed just put it in the spot for the night . Sue did get the right rod in the end and slipped the net under a nice 37lb fish. Ron had lens linear out 25lb now in the middle of the night and they both had a coiple of small ones that went into the stockpond .
Its stifling hot already this morning and its forecast high 30s today and tomorrow not ideal i'm going to stock the pump on today and get some oxygen in the water. Hopefully after this week temperatures start dropping now.
The days are definitely getting shorter as it was still dark at 6 am this morning and by 9 its dark at night.
Loads of time left yet hopefully sue gets her 1st forty soon.

Its like de ja Vue all over again as we welcomed back the lovely tasker family.
Debbie wasn't out last year but on her last trip and first visit to foxpool she had the shamrock at 44lb I think. much to mums Sue's annoyance as she is still waiting for her 1st forty having had fish to 38lb previosly.
Straight after dinner was served i saw debs playing a fish and sue came down to the house steam coming through her notrels "shes bloody done it again another forty a 41lb leather"
I think this is the smaller of the 2 leathers which was last out at 38lb the bigger one hasn't been out yet. So a good start and she followed that up with a 17lb fish in the night and Ron got off the mark in peg 1 with a mid twenty .
Ron and sue have started in peg 1 together with Debbie in peg 2 fishing peg 3 water allowing mum to have all the island.
She also had a nice 16lb mirror out of the stockpond which I put out earlier before they arrived which she named the champion after her success with her kids football team winning the league that has gone into chads pool along with approximately 50 other fish from the stockpond which were feeding heavily everyday now with maize and pellet.
I had a nice 2 week break with my son in spain and france and the fish have not seen a line for a few weeks so they should be up for a bit of bait this week.
Unfortunately we due another hot spell with 34 degrees yesterday and set to stay high all week we did have rain last Tuesday which was nice to see but could do with some more .
I still have a few weeks free if anyone wants a late trip as we had a cancellation come in yesterday after Ashley cancelled because hes moving house now the week he was due out.
Dates available 2026
August 15th & 22nd
September 12th
October 3rd 17th & 24th .
Thanka Graham.
Debbie just had another as im posting this 26lb 3 fish already and one from the stockpond shes on fire in peg 2.

Another heatwave set to hit again shortly with 40 degrees again . Its the last thing we need tbh after so long .
As we have a few groups driving over next month I just wsnt too assure them there's no problem here,or on route down ftom the north the fires are in geronde and near bourdoux. Thankfully all we've had is local field fires that the french fire brigade have dealt with swiftly.
Im thanking my lucky stars that I dug out chads pool last autumn as that extra water has come in handy in this drout . I needed to drop chads pool any way as I need to work on the monk replacing the boards and we had to leave some parts in last year as the weather and time stopped getting it all out im going to get a price off a local company to dig the rest out and tidy up around the lake ive done a lot myself but I need a bigger machine .
I read a heartbreaking article of one lake owner rom the retreat who's lost 25% of his stock and a lot of his big fish. we had nigels group out in early july that had there original lake shut and many french lakes are struggling with fish deaths and low water.
We have lost half a dozen big fish and the heat and high water temperature may of not helped but all fish were holding spawn and thats normal we've lost fish most years after spawning since I took oved not usually as many and certainly not as many big fish as this year but there's plemty coming through in the high 30s thst will replace the 3 forties we lost and I am restocking both lakes this autumn.
I'm currently on vacation in Spain with my son and enjoying the sea breeze and lower temperatures plus I got air con which is nice and definitely something I need in the house. We did smell the fires though on the way down in the dordogne and the sky was murky.
Back at the lake on Saturday and the pumps will be on recirculatling the water and pumping oxygen. Ive not fed the fish this week only in the stockpond and chads gert going to feed them eith the maize and pellet i cooked up. There's plenty of naturals in there and I want all that lads bait mopped up before sue & ronnie are back to start the 2nd half off again. Ill be chasing final balances off those out in September and October as payment are due 12 weeks prior to your trip.
Lots of enquires coming for next year you can check the availability calender on foxpools france website I need to double check with scott its all up to date hes going to run me through how I can update it in the future.
We are having a work party week in October possibly early November if any of those out this year fancy a free week fishing where will be refurbishing the cabin and doing peg work on pegs 2 and 3 aswell as tree maintenance you do need to physically fit and bring your skills with you. If interested contact me directly via WhatsApp. I leave with a pic of some of the big uns not out so far this year . I think blackspot and the fully scaled with be forty plus now as they were both at 39lb last season and the season before that fully is hard fish to catch only Jeff had her on the bsnk in my time here Richard ford had her 2017 before I bought it atv37lb and Jeff in.may 2024 at 39lb . One id love to bank aswell.as the big leather atb50lb which shes heading towsrds .

Its been a tough first half of the season with the extreme heat and lack of rain. Peter and steve brought the 1st half of the seasin to a close and as they always do they fished well.getting there baiting aproach right and observing the fish well.
Peter had over 20 fish mainly from peg 3 with over 10 x 30s but the big ones avoided his net this time. I think there definitely getting more clued up on here the bigger fish with a lot not been out so far this season. Steve also got into double figures but peg 1 isn't holding fish like it it has in previos years for some reason this year but peg 2 seems to be getting more action. Steve had fish to 36lb and a big grassy that he was pleased about. He also banked a dozen fish from the stockpond with some noce mirrors going into chads pool. Aswell as some small carp he had out of the main lake . Peter also had 4 descent cats that wiped him out a few times at night.
The extreme heat is set to return this week france is on fire and many restrictions are now in place with barbecue being banned and we are on drought restrictions I went to wash my car this week and thats not allowed and all car wash are closed there's a stench of smoke in the air and it's blocking the sun . Many fields locally are black from the fires and people being evacuated from there homes we had a drag racing event at the little airfield you pass abonend last month and 3000 people evacuated when a field caught on fire opposite. A lot of these fires are caused by smokers throwing cig butts from there vehicles and the matrix signs on the moterway are warming you not too .
Ive never known heat like this my time here for such a long period and a lot of lakes are struggling for water
I've pumped 4ft out of chads pool thankfully so we still have better than average water levels for this time of year but were desperate for rain even the farmers can't use there machines between 8 am and 8pm in case they cause a spark .
Steve got burnt the last day and Peter went home looking like he changed race even the pale amy with her factor 50 had a bit of a tan.
The pool is a god send though amd nice to cool off in.
Unfortunately we lost another big carp last week the smamrock popped up at a spawnbound 49lb that 3 40s lost after spawning this year and 2 at 49lb which is gutting she was one of my favorite fish and one I new would go 50 in the future. Its that 2nd wave of spawning that cost us dearly again the 2nd year on the bounce.
Just like to thank Steve and peter for there generous tip and steve and amy for having the picture.of me with two tone my personal best 59.12lb blown up and framed and amy who searched high a low in the charity shops of the north east to find a eternal bow tea pot for me after I broke the lid in mine both carefully packed in there case.Cheers guys. Always a pleasure seeing these guys back and i look forward to seeing you next year although amy not out with the boys so see you in 2 years kid. Hope the new job goes well. Also thanks too my muccas gert and silve for doing breakfast and taking them to the airport for me as I drove to Spain at 4.30 am for a week with out tom. Much Apreciatted .

After the extreme temperature we had a short period of high 20s before yesterday we hit 30° again . steve & Pete two of regulars have caught consistently this week pete had 3 the first 24hours upto 32lb in peg 2 before moving into peg 3 where he really picked up taking 8 fish in the 1st 24 hours with mamy 30s comeng out and he had a catfish that beat in him.up in the early hours.
Steve had a slow start in peg 1 but is on 7 or 8 fish now to 35lb but hes had a few smaller that have come through with a lovely little mirror yesterday of about 5lb definitely one for the future. They also had a few nice fish from the stockpond upto 15lb .
Peg 1 that has consistently fished best since I took over isn't as consistent this year the fish behaviour has definitely changed and peg 2 and 3 seem to be hold more fish.
Some of the fish have spawned again this week the last 2 mornings in pegs 1 and 4 margins working up a froth.
We close for a few weeks now for our mid season break before the taskers arrive on the 8th August unfortunately young Ron can't make it this year to look after his expecting wife kristal. Good luck to you both and I look forward to welcoming back in the future with the newest member of the tasker clan.
Ive been pumping in from chafs the last 2 weeks to raise the water level.bsck up as the extreme heat has dropped it down 18 inches unfortunately with the war kicking off again fuel.prices are back up too well over £2 a litre I paid £2.15 yesterday so I cant afford to keep filling the pumps at that . Heres a few of there fish and a few from the stockpond..

17/07/2026

Just had this cracker from the stockpond u think.john from.jsm carpets had this fish many moons ago . Definitely one for the future imagine this at 40lb . Now in chads pool.

17/07/2026

Finally got some rain after a barron 4 months but only lasted 10 minutes and then glorious sunshine and 34° . Been uncomfortable fishing in 40 degrees plus , for the lads on the last month and frustrating when you can see the big carp but there not feeding properly making it a tough month for fish on the bank . Bit of wind on the lake and cloud and sun .
Poor Andrew Bernard who supplies our bollies wasn't so lucky with giant hailstones breaking his windscreen and removing all the leaves from the trees a bit further south near limoges and causing widespread damage locally . Thankfully him and Debbie survived without injury .

15/07/2026

Nice surprise this morning when I opened the curtains it was raining just a bit of light rain, but a welcome break from the high 30s we've had for the last month although its sunny and 32° now .
I bought a 5m pool over the weekend and filled it uo so anglers can reel in and cool off at least in this insane heatwave.
Im hoping to put up by the cabin next year when I level off I had a dip after working on the jcb yesterday it was heavenly.
Ive had 2 pumps running yesterday and have been pumping in from next door all last week to top up the water level but fuels prices are rising again to near €2 euro a litre.
Big thanks Pete at entang de vost for lending me his small pump to get some oxygen in the water as my aerator broke and it cant be repaired until September and repairing my pumps and returning them.
He just opened up a new lake on a cheap introductory price drive and survive but he does do a food packrge if you want it . Nice 4 acre lake with swims all on one bank . So if your looking at driving over with your gear take a look at entang de vost. Pete's a Dutch guy and did 5 years as a guide on the ebro. Before buying his own lake in france about 20 minutes south of foxpool.
Red hot for the lads on the last month Sunday was 39° and sleeping ain't easy with the lads chasing shade in the day time thankfully we got some much needed oxygen in the water we lost a few zander recently but thats due to high water temperatures as predators always go first.
Poor jay who had a hard week in peg 3 lost 3 on the last night unfortunately.
No one on this week as liam cancelled due to medical issues. Steve Pete back Saturday and chaperoned by Amy. Ive not fished this week or fed the lake as i think there's plenty gone in the last month. So hopefully theyve polished the bait off by the time the lads cast in Saturday afternoon. Then the lakes closed for 2 weeks as my son Thomas is over. Then we open the 8th for the taskers then have 2 more cancellations Bert and Adam then it kicks off on the 29th August when malcolm returns so hopefully it fishes well back end as its quite over the next 6 weeks .
The new website is now up and running so please take a look at it the more clicks the better it is. It has a availability calender on it too so you check the availability for next year. Scott done a great job with it.
Ive been on the jcb clearing the big pile of clay removed from chads pool which is hard going with the sun shining through the glass , but have to Crack on whilst its empty.
