My advice as a chief stew if I didn’t want to hurt your feelings…

❤️ Your attitude matters more than your experience. I’ll take a green stew with great energy and humility over a diva with 3 seasons.

❤️ Charter guests don’t care how tired you are
They’re paying hundreds of thousands of dollars for this trip. Smile, make another round and keep going.

❤️ If you want to lead one day… act like a leader now. That means showing up early, stepping up when it’s hard, and taking the unsexy shifts when needed.

❤️ If you think everyone else is the problem, spoiler: It’s you. Every boat? Every crew? Every time? Nah, babe. That’s a you issue.

🍸This Isn’t Below Deck. If you joined yachting for the cocktails, the hot deckhands, and the sunsets…
You might get one of those. But chances are, the only cocktail you’ll be holding during charter is someone else’s. This is a job. A hard one. Not a holiday. Not a dating show.

Sometimes the truth stings—but it’s what I wish someone told me earlier in my career. If you’re ready to grow (even when it’s uncomfortable), you’ll go far.

Hellooooooo It’s been a while — I’ve been deep in the parenting trenches, soaking up every moment and learning a whole new kind of patience and purpose. But I’ve been feeling that pull again… and I couldn’t stay away for long.

I keep thinking about how yachting set me up. It gave me the freedom to take this time off, to be fully present with my family, to come back to Australia and still have my life covered. It wasn’t just a job—it was an opportunity that laid the foundations for my next chapter.

Now, I’ve got this fire in me to help other stews do the same. To travel the world, have the adventure, work hard and set themselves up for what comes after. Not just for the now, but for their future too.

I’m back—and I’m ready to share more, support more, and build something meaningful.

💫 In all honestly there’s a lotttttta rules, and some need to be broken to tailor to your guest or owner preferences… as each yacht has a bespoke style of service to meet the needs of the guests.

When your chief stew asks you to do a top to bott check of the boat you can save these areas/items to check as you make your way around the boat (and get some much needed fresh air 😉)

🧳 Wondering what to pack in your suitcase when embarking on your yachting adventure to find a job?!

When I first left Australia, I had zero winter clothes 🤦🏻‍♀️ thinking I would get a job on a yacht and be chasing summers around the world.

…What I didn't realise is yachts can be doing shipyards in the European winters, your "off" time will most likely not be in the summer and you pretty much live in air conditioning onboard. *Brrrrr⁣⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⁣⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So I’ve made a GO-TO packing list from the staples to the extras you may want to consider. From how many bikinis you actually wear, to seamless underwear (girls) and how to half your toiletries.

Other items to consider:
• swipe right for my go to suitcase from Eastpak… do not pack a hard suitcase
• noise cancelling headphone (v. Necessary onboard… from drowning out anchor noises to noisy roommates)
• ⁣photos from home 🤍
• hard copies of all your yachting certificates (must must must not forget these… also save a scanned version to a usb or send to your email so can email them quickly)

When you decide you want to be a stewardess you probably know the job is very detail orientated and guest focused working for some of the worlds wealthiest people.

Yacht stews go above and beyond providing a luxury service, doing ‘extra’ tasks like…

✨ Detailing guests hairbrushes
✨ Cleaning guest toiletry lids
✨ Wiping glasses when they are put down
✨ Changing hand soap/lotion to left side of sink if we notice the guest is left handed
✨ Cleaning the inside and out of guests shoes they take off after a tender ride ashore
✨Detailing their toothbrushes 😬
✨Putting their fav gum in their handbag to take ashore
✨ Charging their phones if low

We are all about the ‘little things’ and doing these tasks for guests becomes second nature, I guarantee you’ll start noticing more and more details you can add to your repertoire of stew tips

I’m sure there are all kinds of wacky and sometimes questionable things us stews do that the guests may not even notice 💁🏻‍♀️ but hey it’s the thought that counts (and maybe the charter tip that could be bumped up because of it 😎)

Leaving my 9-5 job to try and get a job as a yacht stew was the best decision I ever made.

Today I am forever grateful for the places I saw and the opportunities yachting gave me. From paying off my university debt to setting myself up financially and STILL having the abilty to travel to some of the worlds most unique places and meet so many friends along the way.

It was a hellavah ride and now I’m showing you how to go and do the same!
