🌕🇰🇷 **A Special Chuseok Experience at Suva Korean School!** 🍂

On Saturday, September 12, our students enjoyed a wonderful day learning about **Chuseok, one of Korea’s most important traditional holidays!** ✨

🎨 First, students learned about traditional Chuseok folk games and enjoyed a fun coloring activity while discovering more about Korean holiday traditions.

🎵 Next, everyone practiced singing **“Gohyang-ui Bom (Spring in My Hometown)”** together. Through the song, students experienced the beauty of the Korean language and shared the warm feeling of thinking about one’s hometown. 🎶💕

🥟 And the highlight of the day—**making songpyeon!** Students prepared the dough, added the fillings, shaped their own songpyeon, and watched them steam before finally enjoying what they had made. 😋👏

Learning about Korean traditions through stories, music, art, and food made Chuseok even more meaningful and memorable for our students. 🌾❤️ It was a joyful day of learning, creating, and experiencing Korean culture together!

9월 12일 토요일, 수바한글학교 학생들은 우리나라의 대표적인 명절인 **추석과 전통문화를 배우고 직접 체험하는 특별한 시간**을 가졌습니다. ✨

🎨 먼저 추석에 즐기는 다양한 **전통 민속놀이에 대한 이야기를 듣고 색칠 활동**을 하며 우리나라의 명절 문화를 재미있게 알아보았습니다.

🎵 이어서 학생들이 함께 **‘고향의 봄’ 노래를 연습**했습니다. 노래를 부르며 아름다운 우리말을 익히고, 고향을 생각하는 따뜻한 정서도 함께 느껴보았습니다. 🎶💕

🥟 그리고 학생들이 기다리던 **송편 만들기!** 직접 송편 반죽을 만지고 소를 넣어 정성껏 모양을 만든 뒤, 맛있게 쪄낸 송편을 함께 나누어 먹었습니다. 자신이 직접 만든 송편을 맛보며 더욱 즐겁고 뿌듯한 시간을 보냈습니다. 😋👏

이야기와 미술, 노래, 음식 만들기를 통해 추석을 직접 경험하면서 학생들이 한국의 명절과 전통문화를 더욱 친근하게 느낄 수 있었던 하루였습니다. 🌾🇰🇷❤️

🇰🇷❤️ Celebrating Korea’s National Liberation Day Together!

Last Saturday, Suva Korean School students and parents came together to participate in the **Korean Embassy’s National Liberation Day Commemorative “Love Our Country, Love Our Environment” Walk**. 🚶‍♀️🚶‍♂️🌿

In celebration of Korea’s National Liberation Day (Gwangbokjeol), our students had a meaningful opportunity to learn about the importance of remembering Korea’s history and appreciating the freedom we enjoy today. 🇰🇷✨

It was even more special to have our parents and students walking side by side, sharing the spirit of love for Korea while also reflecting on the importance of caring for our environment. 💚🌏

Through this meaningful community event, our students were able to experience Korean history and culture beyond the classroom and create special memories together with their families and friends. 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦❤️

Today, students from all grade levels participated in a hands-on science lesson using microscopes! 🔬

We learned new vocabulary such as *microscope*, *bacteria*, and the importance of keeping our bodies clean and healthy. Students observed insects, plants, flour dough, and even took a close look at their own fingertips through the microscope. It was an exciting opportunity to discover a hidden world that cannot be seen with the naked eye.

We also studied Constitution Day (July 17), learning about its history and why the Constitution is important in protecting our rights and shaping our society.

학생들은 오늘 전 학년이 함께 현미경 관찰 체험 과학 수업에 참여했습니다! 🔬

‘현미경’, ‘세균’, ‘깨끗한 몸 관리’와 관련된 단어를 배우고, 곤충과 식물, 밀가루 반죽, 그리고 자신의 손가락까지 현미경으로 자세히 관찰해 보았습니다. 눈으로는 보이지 않던 작은 세계를 직접 살펴보며 과학에 대한 흥미를 키울 수 있는 시간이었습니다.

또한 제헌절에 대해 배우며, 제헌절의 역사와 헌법의 중요성에 대해서도 공부했습니다. 우리 사회의 기본이 되는 헌법이 왜 중요한지 함께 생각해 보는 뜻깊은 시간이었습니다.

Our students had another fun and engaging day of learning at Suva Korean School. The Beginner Korean Class expanded their vocabulary by learning words containing various Korean consonants and exploring everyday items found in supermarkets. They also practiced describing objects and situations using adjective flashcards. Meanwhile, our kindergarten students strengthened their Korean writing skills by practicing consonants, reading word cards, enjoying a picture book together, and expressing their creativity through scratch paper and coloring activities.

In the Grades 1–2 class, students learned how descriptive words can make sentences more vivid and meaningful before applying their knowledge through diary writing that expressed their own thoughts and experiences. Our upper elementary students explored the world of mathematics by learning about regular polyhedrons and their unique characteristics. Across all classes, students also enjoyed creative scratch paper activities, combining learning with artistic expression and imagination.

오늘 수바한국학교 학생들은 다양한 언어·수학·창의 활동을 통해 즐겁고 의미 있는 배움의 시간을 가졌습니다. 한글 초급반 학생들은 여러 자음이 들어간 단어를 익히며 어휘력을 넓히고, 마트에서 볼 수 있는 물건들의 이름을 배우면서 생활 속 한국어를 자연스럽게 접했습니다. 또한 형용사 카드를 활용하여 사물과 상황을 표현하는 연습을 하며 표현력을 키웠습니다. 유아·유치부 학생들은 자음 쓰기 연습과 낱말카드 읽기를 통해 한글 기초를 다졌으며, 「씨앗을 심어봐요」 그림책을 함께 읽으며 독서의 즐거움을 경험했습니다. 색칠하기와 스크래치 페이퍼 활동을 통해서는 창의력과 집중력을 기를 수 있었습니다.

1~2학년반 학생들은 꾸며 주는 말을 활용하여 문장을 더욱 풍부하게 만드는 방법을 배우고, 자신의 생각과 경험을 담아 일기를 작성하며 글쓰기 능력을 키웠습니다. 고학년 학생들은 수학 시간에 정다면체의 종류와 특징을 탐구하며 공간 감각과 논리적 사고력을 발전시켰습니다. 모든 학생들은 배움과 놀이, 그리고 창의 활동이 어우러진 수업 속에서 즐겁게 참여하며 뜻깊은 시간을 보냈습니다.
