As the University of the South Pacific's (USP) Vice-Chancellor and President, I am proud of our active involvement together with our Chief Operating Officer, Walter Fraser in the drafting of the final Communique of the three-day Conference of Pacific Education Ministers (CPEM).

The Communique outlines the challenges of our region’s education system and places a focus on our indigenous languages, climate change issues impacting our Pacific and equal access to education across the board.

The Vice-Chancellor and President of The University of the South Pacific (USP), Professor Pal Ahluwalia has re-affirmed his commitment to the citizens of Samoa, stating that development at the Samoa Campus would leave no one behind.

Professor Ahluwalia made the comment when he spoke at a signing ceremony formalising USD 185,862 in funding (SAT $493,000) from the Government of Japan, earmarked for upgrades at the University’s Savai’i Centre.

Grateful for the opportunity to further strengthen USP’s collaboration with the University of New Caledonia (UNC) on the development of a regional master’s degree in sustainability sciences.
