The University of the South Pacific Students' Association The USPSA is the largest and most diverse student body in the Pacific. Article 16 of the charter clearly states that there should an organization of students.

With over 30,000 members across 12 member countries within the Pacific and international students from beyond the region who also become part our family. The University of the South Pacific Students’ Association (USPSA) is supported by 12 Pacific Island Countries USPSA Branches; Namely- Cook Islands, Fiji, Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Nauru, Niue, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tokelau, Tonga, Tuvalu and Vanuatu. These countries each host a regional campus student association we call as our USPSA Branch. The University of the South Pacific Students’ Association has been in existence ever since the University of the South Pacific began operations from 1968. USPSA is further acknowledged by the Royal Charter granted to the University by her Majesty the Queen of England on the 4th of February 1970 at Buckingham Palace. The Umbrella body of USP Students known as USPSA/ USPSA Federal was created by an ordinance of the 70th USP Council. In a collective sweep the 14 USPSA branches form the USPSA Federal Council. Since its inception in 2009, the USPSA Federal Council oversees all the USPSA Branches. The current membership of the association is well over 30,000. The 14 USPSA Branches (in 12 member countries) are united under the main USPSA Federal Council, the Council, through the Federal Office, is the administrative centre for the Association, it assists all branch associations with compliance issues and promotes and supports good governance throughout the branch associations. With the vision of “Achieving the best experience possible for students as they navigate through University”, the USPSA, in addition to its primary role as an advocating body, is responsible for engaging with CROP Agencies, member Country Governments, national, regional and international organizations in pursuit of USPSA’s objectives and its Transformative Plans. USPSA is also responsible for coordinating all student elections, appointing student representatives to various USP Committees and other ad-hoc committees, it also includes but not limited to the preparation and submission of USPSA reports to these committees and the USP Council. We still remain “One Ocean, One People, One Voice and One Journey”

A proud milestone for Anushka Artika, who has successfully graduated with a Postgraduate Certificate in Gender Studies during our ceremony today.

Anushka currently serves at the Fiji Ministry of Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation, Department of Social Welfare, as a Senior Women’s Interest Officer. Her commitment to empowering women and contributing to community well-being is reflected not only in her professional journey but also in her continued pursuit of education.

Her latest achievement adds another qualification to an already impressive academic journey. She previously completed a Bachelor’s in Public Administration and Management and Tourism Studies, followed by a Postgraduate Diploma in International Diplomacy and International Affairs.

For Anushka, this achievement is a tribute to the women who have been part of her life and journey.

“I would like to acknowledge all the women in my life and proudly give credit to the women who made this day and my achievements throughout my life. I went through a lot in my life, and today I move forward with the help of my family and the ladies in my life.”

From Santo Island in Vanuatu to the graduation stage at USP, Peter Andrew's journey is a testament to perseverance, hard work, and the unwavering support of family.

Graduating with a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil), Peter travelled to Fiji with his parents to celebrate this milestone and mark the successful completion of a journey that was not always easy.

Now working with the Public Works Department, Sanma Division, Peter reflects on overcoming doubts along the way and finding the motivation to keep going through the encouragement of his family.

Among his greatest inspirations is his father, whom he proudly describes as his role model, a hardworking and determined man whose example has guided and motivated him throughout his studies.

As he celebrates this achievement, Peter's story serves as a reminder that with perseverance, support, and belief in yourself, even the biggest goals can be achieved.

Carrying the pride of Abaiang and Maiana in Kiribati, Tiromita Roeti travelled from home to graduate with a Bachelor of Arts during our Laucala ceremony in Fiji.

Tiromita marked this special occasion surrounded by the love and pride of his family, friends and community.

His message is simple but powerful: study hard and strive to earn a degree.

Today, his success stands as a reminder that education can open doors to new opportunities and create lasting change, not only for individuals but for communities across Kiribati and the Pacific.

The University of the South Pacific Students’ Association acknowledges the presence of our USPSA President and Chairman of the Student Council, accompanied by the Deputy Chair, at today’s USP Graduation Ceremony. They attended as official guests, representing one of the University’s primary stakeholders the students of USP.

Their attendance reflects USPSA’s continued commitment to ensuring that student representation is present at significant institutional events, and that the voices, interests, and aspirations of our diverse regional student body remain recognised within the wider USP community.

USPSA congratulates all graduates on their achievements and extends its best wishes as they progress into the next phase of their academic and professional journeys. The Association remains dedicated to upholding student welfare, strengthening good governance, and fostering meaningful engagement across all USP campuses.

Graduating today holds a special place in Peliatisi U-M’OKH Taufa’s heart, as the milestone falls on her mother’s birthday.

Three years of dedicated sacrifice culminated in Taufa receiving her Bachelor of Science degree at our Laucala Campus graduation ceremony in Suva, Fiji today.

Moving away from her home in Lavengatonga, Tonga, was challenging at first, but Taufa soon built a strong support system of friends who helped her navigate the difficult times.

“At first it was hard, but then you find your people and realise they are going through the same struggles. We found comfort in supporting each other and staying encouraged throughout the journey,” she said.

“Reaching this point is the result of personal growth and learning from people from all over the region. It has been a truly eye-opening experience.”

Driven by a strong curiosity about how the world works, Taufa’s passion for discovery naturally guided her academic path toward science.

Her family’s unwavering support was a major source of motivation throughout her studies. Her graduation day was made even more significant as her family travelled from Tonga to celebrate both her mother’s birthday and her achievement.
