A Day of Culture and Fun: Nasegai District School Fiji Day Celebration 🇫🇯

We kicked off our Fiji Day celebration with a deep dive into our vibrant culture! Students led gallery walks in their classrooms, transforming them into showcases of Fijian heritage. Each year level proudly displayed everything from precious artifacts to stunning Fijian attire, including traditional wedding outfits and colourful meke costumes.

The afternoon was set for traditional Fijian games, including veitiqa and coka vuvu. While the rain unfortunately forced us to shelve the highly anticipated coconut husking and scraping races, the spirit of fun couldn't be dampened! We pivoted quickly, substituting them with a high-energy game of musical chairs that had every student, from our youngest in Kindergarten to our oldest in Year 8, laughing and cheering.

It was clear the students of Nasegai thoroughly enjoyed the day. We extend our sincere gratitude to all the parents who turned up to support and assist with the festivities. Your commitment proves once again: Teamwork makes the dream work!

Our Year 1 and 2 students are becoming warming-up experts in their PE classes!

It’s been a great week of learning about the importance of a proper warm-up before any physical activity or game. Our young athletes practiced a range of dynamic movements and stretches, discovering how these steps prepare their bodies for action and help prevent injuries. They learned that getting their muscles "ready to go" is just as important as the game itself!

We’re thrilled to see them understanding this crucial element of physical literacy—it's a healthy habit they can carry with them for life.

A day of pride and promise at Nasegai District School! Today, we celebrated the successful induction of our new prefects. It was a truly inspiring ceremony, marking the beginning of a journey in leadership for these outstanding students.

To our new prefects: Remember, leadership is not about having power over others, but about empowering those around you. It's about serving with humility, leading by example, and fostering a positive and supportive environment for everyone. You have been chosen to guide and inspire, and we have full confidence in your abilities.

To all the students of Nasegai District School: Look to these prefects as role models. Embrace opportunities to develop your own leadership skills, and remember that every act of kindness and every effort to uplift your peers contributes to a stronger school community.

Last year's awards day was a resounding success, thanks in part to the generous support of our sponsors. We were incredibly fortunate to receive donations from Mr. Adrea Niudamu and Mr. Jone Cavalevu, which enabled us to award a Dux shield, trophy, and cash prize, as well as trophies for our Year 7 students. While this post comes a little later than planned, we wanted to express our sincere gratitude for their contributions to Nasegai District School. We are truly blessed and grateful for the continued support, and we thank God for the blessings bestowed upon our school and students. These donations make a significant difference in the lives of our students.
